webfact Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Manhunt on for Thailand’s “Jack the Ripper” after fresh murder in Khon Kaen A police manhunt is underway for Thailand’s “Jack the Ripper”, a serial killer previously convicted of 17 rapes, murders and robberies, who allegedly killed a hotel maid on December 15th in the north-eastern province of Khon Kaen. The suspect had been released from prison in May this year after serving 14 years. Corrections Department director-general Pol Col Narat Sawetnanan today (Monday) admitted that the early release of the convicted serial killer, Nakhon Si Thammarat native Somkid Poompuang, on May 17th was due to an error in the screening process aimed at reducing time inside for prisoners deemed to have been well-behaved. He promised to revamp the process and pledged to cooperate fully with the police in tracking down Somkid and bringing him to justice. Popular Post z42 Posted December 16, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 16, 2019 14 years served for 5 murders, disgraceful.. The last person they executed here was done for killing 1, and there were serious questions about the evidence. With the idiot in this case, what kind of people would even consider him as being eligible for sentence reductions considering his repeated patterns of offending. A truly abhorrent ruling, and another innocent lady has likely lost her life because of outright negligence and stupidity by the authorities ???? 12 1 2

Almost as embarrassing as it was for Keir Starmer MP, who was Director of Prosecutions at the UK's Crown Prosecution Service back in 2008 when the latest London Bridge stabber apparently got on the fast-track to early release due to some alleged screening oversight. 1 1
Popular Post Mac98 Posted December 17, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 17, 2019 In California a man got a 3-strikes life sentence for taking a piece of pizza off a man's plate on a pier. Around the same time a man picked up a hitchhiking 15-year-old girl, raped her, chopped off both arms at the elbow, and threw her out of his van on a remote stretch of road. He got 15 years, was released, moved to Florida and racked up more victims. If you want justice, don't look to the law. 3

webfact Posted December 17, 2019 Author Posted December 17, 2019 Nong Khai authorities search for serial killer along Thai-Laos border By THE NATION Somkid Pumpuang (file photo) Nong Khai Customs Department officials and the Immigration Department have beefed up security along the border with Laos, inspecting both pedestrians and vehicles for signs of Somkid Pumpuang, dubbed as Thailand’s Jack the Ripper, who is the prime suspect in the murder of a 51-year-old woman at a Khon Kaen residence on Sunday. Since early Tuesday morning (December 17), officials have been checking all vehicles, both bearing Thai and Laos licence plates, heading to Laos via border checkpoints. The Immigration Department has posted pictures of the suspect at all checkpoints and on bulletin boards near the border, and has also dispatched undercover officers to search border areas and nearby boat piers in case the suspect surfaces. Earlier, a witness claimed to have seen a man fitting Somkid’s description disguised as a monk in Kumphawapi district in Udon Thani, and police assumed that he might have fled to adjacent Nong Khai in an attempt to cross the border to Laos. Somkid was originally given the death sentence for murdering five people, but this was later commuted to life in prison. He was jailed on June 29, 2005, and served just under 14 years before being released on May 27 this year for good behaviour. hotchilli Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 The death penalty, reduced to life then let out after 14 years. A serious blunder by the penal system... and now guilty of an alleged murder again! Someone should be responsible for this?

It's not about that. Enough people are in jail innocent, innocent people would get killed that way. Now at least they have a chance to proof they are innocent and go free again, happens often enough: https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/policy-issues/innocence/description-of-innocence-cases We aren't animals... prisons aren't meant to torture anyone, they are to protect the public. Just lock him away forever...
