The worst thing I see on Thai roads
Of all the terrible behavior I see on roads in Thailand I think this one is the worst. Doesn't matter how safe you are, this one is totally out of your hands. A car will pass another car and take up the other lane pushing motorbikes off to the side. As you can see in this video the motorbike gets swiped and crashes. I've seen other videos of head on collisions where cars get hit too, likely killing both parties. CleanShot 2025-05-20 at 21.26.29.mp4 The things I see are unbelievable. I wish I had a camera on my bike so I could record some of these incidents. For example this blind curve goes up to 14% grade just around the corner there. I've seen multiple times trucks pass me going up and occupy the entire other lane going around the turn. There's zero chance you could react in time or even stop because the road is so steep, so if by chance another car was coming it would be a head on collision. There are kids on motorbikes coming home from school and even larger trailers carrying rocks and such. Mostly it's speeding pickup trucks hauling produce from the mountains. This problem isn't even on people radars. This is such an obvious way to get people killed, even children, yet no one seems to care. The question for me is, why these otherwise decent people have no concern for safety and just accept their fates at the hands of other drivers. It might as well be murder but this doesn't seem to register with them. Lesson for us is, you use the roads at your own risk. No one is coming to save you and if you die it would have been preventable but no one will care. It's bleak but the hard truth of sharing the roads with Thai people. -

Starmer’s Brexit Reset: A Strategic Shift or a Sacrifice?
The scheme will not allow millions into the UK. If 2015 figures are anything to go by, in all probability there will be 100k EU nationals or so heading to the UK annually, and +/-30k Brits heading in the opposite direction. No one will have the right to permanent residency through this scheme. I can't understand why there is an objection to this scheme which will allow young people to broaden their horizons. It's an objection for objection's sake. -

Due to AI: Now is the best time to be alive? But not 10 years from now?
Still a very weak hypothetical. You’re basically just describing a system malfunction, and malfunctions happen all the time with all kinds of equipment. By your logic, nuclear missiles could randomly fire themselves, or a radar glitch could simulate incoming warheads and trigger an automated retaliatory strike based on a false positive. Yes, these scenarios are technically possible, but they don’t require AI. Those risks already exist and have for decades. But here’s the key point, catastrophic outcomes like that don’t happen from a single failure. They require a sequence of malfunctions and breakdowns across multiple systems. That’s why these systems are built with multiple layers of checks and safeguards. Your doomsday scenario hinges on the assumption that AI would be granted total, unchecked control over some form of high-stakes systems, and that’s a massive leap. I don’t see that happening. Even if AI were involved, any serious action would still require multiple steps and redundancies. It wouldn’t be left up to a single system acting on its own. Honestly, you come across more like someone drawn to worst-case fantasies than someone grounded in logic or real-world understanding. -

Are we really that bad?
Bad behavior on airlines is not restricted to one nationality. Abusing airline workers for trying to do their jobs - pond life.
