Chavalit on military and charter amendment

 

 

He keeps Thais guessing about his political ideology. And he has addressed two explosive issues _ military roles in politics and constitutional reform.

 

Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh has suggested that it is too soon to change the Constitution, and that the military has an important role to play but it needs a better public relations strategy.

 

In a Facebook post of a well-known reporter covering military affairs, Chavalit, former Army chief who turned into a political party leader and once served as prime minister, did not seem to agree with the controversial idea of scrapping the mandatory military conscription system entirely.

Too soon to change the constitution? The current one never should have seen the light of day.  Just as the military never ever should have gotten involved in politics. If the go back to just defending the country with an appropriate number of (non conscripted) soldiers and a few less generals and fancy submarines or aircraft carriers,  they won't need any help with PR.

So yet another dinosaur is having his field day - again. 

It is time to lock this culprit away for good; remember his "Green Isan" or "อีสานเขียว" in the late 80s? Well, now Uncle Tu and his gifted team of camp fellow predict "the drought of unseen proportions". The disaster started three decades ago and now, over time, the chicken come home to roost! 

As long as every Tom, Dick and Harry with some connections has a say .............

I'm guessing his ideology centers on himself.

This guy was an incompetent fool in his hay day, now in most countries he would be in a mental asylum.

 

The fact that anyone would even find his thoughts or comments even slightly relevant highlights the paucity of talent allowed to reach positions of power.

A few less generals?????????  A lot less and and the army directed by the government instead of being it. But old habits are hard to break, especially when they are so lucrative.

I remember he went on what he called the 1,000 kilometer march around the country unsuccessfully drumming up political support. The press called it the 1,000 kilometer march to nowhere. Looks like he’s on the move to the same destination again.

I was trying to be humorous,  the massive overload off way too many generals filling is clear for all to see. All they do is filling their pockets in commissions and boards of various companies.
