Land tax (rates) in Na Klang

My sister in law informed my wife today that tongues were wagging in Na Klang saying many had received official government letters (assume local government) saying that they will have to pay a monthly land tax on their land ownership. This relayed to my wife (we live in UK) so not sure if anything lost in translation.

 

Anyone shed light on this piece of gossip?

We have only ever paid annually in our province.
