Outsourced Health Care to Thailand

Interesting that the families are now sending dementia cases to Thailand for care because the costs are cheaper:

Researchers visiting private care homes in Chiang Mai have found eight homes where guests from the UK are living thousands of miles away from their families, because suitable care in their home country was impossible to find or afford.

I wonder how many of those folks are on OA visas/extension of stay and will need to go get an O visa to avoid the new medical insurance requirement.   I expect the insurance requirement will cut into this business...even the fear of the insurance requirement being extended to other visa/extension types like Non-O would impact the business.

yeah, a good question.  Aren't there visa categories for medical reasons?

Tourist Visa Category “MT” for instance?

It's the sponge baths that make all the difference

My niece is a nurse.  Now getting her PhD in anesthesiology.  As an intern or low level nurse, she had to do the bed pan change thing, and all the low level grunt work.  She had to give some patients sponge baths.  She said one old guy tried to give her a tip when she was done.  No hanky panky, he just probably was an old timer that remembered his times in Thailand
