Cost for AC Service

Featured Replies

Just wondering what folks pay in this area to have Medium sized room AC unit cleaned and Freon topped off.

300 baht up  for a clean...if the freon needs "topping up" then you have a leak, the "technicians" should find and offer to fix the leak..often this is in a difficult position and they don't want to do it  either through lack of skill or equipment so just "top it up" for an extra few hundred baht...

there is also a scam to say it needs topping up but doesn't...so if they say it needs it ask them to find the leak.

Just wondering. It's a pretty old unit, last year I paid 500bht, it's been acting up past few days and just now same guys cleaned it up and hooked up the Freon, charge was 800bht. I figured it was high, possibly time for new unit.

If the aircons haven't been regularly cleaned before, spring for 500 baht and up. Those things can be positively manky, especially if there's been a cigarette smoker in the room.

That was a bargain IMHO.

Older units will be less energy efficient. Rule of thumb if it is over 12 years old, it is old and power-hungry. If it's old and dirty, it's an energy glutton.

Just had one bedroom unit and one tv room unit cleaned/serviced/repaired. About five years old and slowly got not so cool over a week. They found a pinhole leak in the heat exchanger, soapy water used and you could see the bubbles.

So,  clean inside units 2, repair pin hole, clean and check 2 compressor units outside and re-gas. 1700 baht.
