Anyone updated the Thai maps on a Garmin GPS unit ?

I would like to know the approximate cost if anyone has done it.

I take it you do not have a Thai Garmin with free lifetime map update?

call garmin bangkok, 0-2266-9944, they  can update for 900 baht or sell you a new map on an micro sd card for @ 1800 baht.

sorry , my bad, i forgot i was supposed to criticise you and try to hijack thread before providing a completely useless answer, as is the the SOP around here,

I don't actually own a GPS at the moment, Garmin or otherwise. My previous car had a Tom Tom built into the Sony CD unit which was updated by plugging into the internet and accessing the Tom Tom website.

I've a couple of options of used Garmins at the moment, one has old maps hence my question whilst a more expensive one has free lifetime updates.

Do all Garmins have SD cards or do the lifetime updates do it over the internet ?

I don't use my car much at all and the couple of trips I have done recently I have used Google maps on my phone but I prefer a stand alone GPS although I think they will be obsolete in a few years as most new cars will have them built into the entertainment unit.

yes which is why I was asking as I actually only just updated mine at the weekend. You use Garmin Express and register the unit and it lets you know what updates are available.

My unit has a card slot - but I would need to supply a card if I wanted to use it.
