An investigation is underway after a video showed workers at a factory in Nong Khai stripping the bones from chicken feet with their teeth.

Nongluck, 31, the owner of the factory in Ban Deua, Muang district, said she handles tons of chicken feet at a time. They used to use pliers but it was time consuming and customers didn't like the look of the feet and rejected them.

Now they use workers' teeth and it is five times faster.

When the video shocked social media users provincial governor Ronnachai Jitrawiset and health officials went to investigate and advise that the owner reintroduce the use of pliers after freezing the feet.

Staff need to be trained in the technique, he said. This would help protect the health of the consumer as well as the workers.

Four or five other factories in the area would be investigated to see if they are using similar techniques.

A caption on a photo in the Sanook story suggested that the factory had been shut down temporarily.

here we are, back in the same spot, public welfare versus an individual's pursuit of money, greed

Could be a tourist attraction. Although it would hardly impress the Chinese....

exactly, expose yourself to something long enough it will adapt and find a way, very likely something similar going on in China then these viruses easily jump to humans

It's good to know Thailand is well prepared to contain the coronavirus infection. Sanitary standards are next to none. Literally.
