Honda LPGA in Pattaya - Chances of being cancelled ?

With this Corona virus doing the rounds at the moment does anyone foresee the Honda LPGA being cancelled ?

There are obviously a lot of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai and European players and of course all the golf fans from around the world, could be a recipe for disaster or will the authorities allow it to go ahead.

Your thoughts ?

If the situation stays about the same and doesn't completely go off a cliff they will probably still hold the tournament but I would guess that some players will drop out. If the list of players dropping out grows too large they may also cancel for this reason.

Doubtful to be canceled unless the virus becomes an epedmic locally. LPGA has just canceled the Blue Bay LPGA in Hainan Island due to the disease.

Quite a funny topic actually. Why on earth would they cancel it? Stop worrying about the virus and get on with life. The level of hystereria over this makes me laugh.

Yup, the R&A are indeed hysterical over cancelling the amateur event at Waterside. Guess they know better than amateur sleuths on here.

I think that it was a joint decision between them & the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation, I'm trying to find official confirmation somewhere/anywhere.

Just heard on the grapevine that the amateur event at Waterside, the LPGA at Siam & the HSBC Classic in Singapore have all been cancelled - Not so funny now is it @jimn

Lets see if your grapevine is correct. If it is cancelled it will be due to players dropping out through hysteria and falae rumours.

grapevine is correct, guess they're all hysteric.

Due to the continued health concerns and recent advisories surrounding the coronavirus in some Asian countries, the LPGA and its partners have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Honda LPGA Thailand and the 2020 HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.
