The Department of Livestock Development has denied reports of an outbreak of H1N1 (swine flu) in Taiwan, and has assured that Thailand’s pork industry is safe.

Recently, there was news of a swine flu outbreak in Taiwan, raising fears, especially among Thai people who consume pork.

The department's director-general, Sorawit Thanito, said the news was false. “Taiwanese Centres of Disease Control informed us that the news related to the virus published in the Taiwanese press was about the seasonal flu named ‘H1N1’ in the country,” he said.

He explained that ‘H1N1’ is a kind of flu that can infect humans. “The disease is not of pig, but was called ‘swine flu’ by World Health Organization since infected people at that time had direct contact with pigs,” he added.

“Those who have questions related to the livestock sector can contact the Bureau of Disease Control and Veterinary Services or use the ‘DLD 4.0’ mobile application,” he said.

They are similar. Swine flu is more likely to include diarrhea and vomiting, as well as the respiratory symptoms that come with typical seasonal human flu. Recent reports indicate that the A(H1N1) swine flu virus infects deeper into the lungs than typical seasonal human flu

Immune to swine fever,  bird flu, coronavirus... you name it Thailand is impervious to all, and will deny it until the bodies start to mount up and cannot be hidden away!

Swine flu, bird flu, bat flu, what next, buffalo flu?

It is the youflu and meflu that concerns me most. ????

BTW, it is African Swine Flu that pork eaters need to be aware of, and then eating is ok but the live pigs die from that flu. Most pigs are destined to die anyways I'd suspect.

All Thai buffaloes are sick judging by the number of financial assistance I keep getting.

All connected with scoffing dead animals, dog flu might be a possible one.
