Thailand’s top health official apologized for using a vulgarity to disparage white tourists Friday morning and demand they should be kicked out of the country.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Friday afternoon apologized for his enraged comments during a photo op this morning at which he was handing out face masks and noticed some foreigners refusing them.

In his online apology, he said the foreigners “showed disgust at Thais.”

“I apologize that today I kinda ‘lost myself’ to some Europeans who showed disgust at Thais who wear masks and refused to cooperate to wear the masks,” he wrote on Facebook.

I'm guessing some 'white people' said no when he offered them a mask. I'm guessing they may have refused to be in a picture. He's obviously lost face and just let words come out of his mouth in a fit of anger.

 

He asked Thai people to help kick out foreigners who don't wear masks. Let that sink in. A man who said this virus is like a common cold, who said stopping people coming in from mainland China won't make a difference, a man who's been seen in pictures with people who were ill not wearing a mask - has the audacity to tell people to help roundup people who don't accept his crappy masks and kick them out.

 

This man is one of the top men helping run this country. God help Thailand. 

 

 

 

 

On top of all of these comments, Thailand desperately needs to encourage western tourists back so this clown makes insulting comments about westerners. Wonder what his IQ is?

Well this is the icing on the cake for me. Me and a group of friends were planning on a trip to Thailand some time this year having visited for the last 20 years however we won't be coming back if this is how they see us Europeans. I say we all boycott Thailand for good. It is clear that Thailand do not welcome Europeans anymore - we are seen as 4th class behind Chinese, Asians and even Indians.

Anutin steamed as farang turn down facemasks

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul got a little miffed at Western tourists this week when several rebuffed the protective facemasks that he was personally distributing on a Bangkok street.

 

Anutin said the incautious farang should be reported to their embassies and expelled from Thailand. Asian tourists and especially Chinese were meanwhile happily accepting the masks, he said.

 

The Chinese are perhaps in a mood to be grateful after the government decided to keep granting them visas on arrival.

 

It had been suggested the privilege be withheld amid the coronavirus scare, but the value of Sino-Thai relations prevailed.

 

At the same time, Anutin and other officials have been strongly criticised by fellow Thais online for the government’s initially slow and ineffective response to the virus outbreak.

 

Anutin later apologised on Facebook for his comment, insisting the government is doing its best to tackle the situation and deserved respect for trying – not the kind of rejection he experienced.

No this sadly is not satire. I myself use a 3M 95N mask when I go to the Central Shopping Mall here in Pattaya. I see very many Asian people using masks. But I don't see many Farangs using them. Now the question arises - are we using the masks sick or the others?
