Usually caught from someone you live with, I'd be testing the Thai lady that looked after him for the past 14 years. An American lady I know who was working with elephants as a trainer, caught TB from an elephant, she did recover after months of medication in the form of injections,

The gun pop no doubt was heard but depending on the time of day not a big concern obviously since nobody seems to have reported anything. Waning Chinese New Year celebration, loud firecracker, etc.

No significant health issues and as far as I can tell no financial issues. My Mom is 90 and definitely gets depressed sometimes. Good health, but just does less and less. All her friends she used to go out with and Dad have died. All her siblings have died. All her aunts and uncles have died. She is the last of her generation in our family and among all my cousins and what not. If she was not living with my sister, I don't know what her mind set would be. Loneliness can be a killer. My Dad had lots of health issues in his last two years and was miserable physically and I know that pained him so much as he could not play golf, go out and bullsheet with the guys, was confined literally to the reclining chair, oxygen enricher around the clock. Sometimes the future does not look pleasant, and looks painful. Maybe this German was not financially well off,. Just because his last stated job was a taxi driver does not necessarily mean he was not financially solvent. He may be ex military or civil service or even some private worker before that, with a pension and just drove a taxi to keep busy and keep working for a few years. 2

Cheer up, there's plenty to look forward to for young folks like you!! I am 73 and am certainly not impotent and although have had a couple of bladder problems, I am still managing to pee ok and I don't get up in the night to do so, and any pains I have are from about 45 years of playing football and a few broken bones acquired in doing so, not to mention some muscle tears from playing tennis for a few years. I enjoy my red wine and enjoy cooking, and I also enjoy going out once (sometimes twice) a week, having a few drinks with friends and then singing a few songs with a rock group. I enjoy driving and occasionally take my car out for a drive when I don't really need to go anywhere in particular, but just for the pleasure of it. Anything that needs fixing around the place, and at friends places, I am always keen to help out and enjoy doing so, especially if it means fixing electrical appliances, as in my early years I served an electrical apprenticeship – – later on I followed a completely different career path. Also, I enjoy catching up with my Thai daughter on weekends and going out for lunch and shopping, as well as speaking to her regularly during the week on the phone. If I ever thought that I needed to depart this mortal coil on my own terms, then I would do so with the help of some helium – – painless and not messy. Plenty to look forward too BMT!

I know 90+ year olds who still have good bladder and bowel control, live independently, cook, clean and sit on committees contriibuting to their communites. The best cure for joint and back pain is regular exercise and resistance training, never too late to start. 3
jonclark
Maybe - pure speculation and no disrespect intended to the departed - he took his life as the TB diagnosis now made the mandatory insurance impossible for his next visa extension; that type of condition in a 75 year old would have not been of any interest to any insurance company. And he simply had no where else to go and no choices left. Pure speculation I know. I hope this gentleman has found peace.

balo
I could understand it if he had a terminal disease like cancer but TB ? TB is curable, and he could get free healthcare in Germany. It could take 2-3 years to heal, but he could still enjoy many years after that.
