University to give away sanitizer gels made by its faculty to public

Suratthani Rajabhat University's Faculty of Science and Technology will give away sanitising hand gels made by its students to the general public on February 14, when it will mark the university’s 46th anniversary.

 

The faculty’s chemistry programme has produced the sanitising hand gel to give away to students, lecturers and the campus staff in order to cope with the new coronavirus, its acting president Assistant Professor Dr Wattana Rattanaprom said.

Now that is a good public health initative, if it is tested as being effective and low allegenic.

hand sanitizer is sold out everywhere i know but if you still want some it is easy to make

 

google "home made hand sanitizer"

 

or for the lazy: isopropyl alcohol + aloe vera (gel) or baby oil (spray)

dilute with distilled or kettle boiled water

I did that however isopropyl alcohol is not easy to find in Thailand. You can order it typically from suppliers who service hospitals.  Then Aloe Vera is not easy to find as a stand alone.  When you do find it, it is more expensive to buy the aloe vera gel than the hand sanitizer that already is a combination of aloe vera and alcohol.

You can (could) still get surgical spirit (blue colour) from pharmacies a few days ago. I put it in old mosquito spray bottles. Should work.

 

Outside of Bangkok, masks and gel hard to obtain now. But Anutin wouldn't worry about that....
