The problem is that there are many educated people in Bangkok who would love to join, but just are forbidden. My gf and her work colleagues have it in their work contracts to not express any political statements...neither in demonstrations nor online.

 

Anyway I hope that there will be enough brave and persistent 

people. It’s a step by step game. Once it reaches Middle 5-digit numbers it will also be on the international media.

They HAVE learned from history. One thing they learnt is that all their voices have been ignored by governments for decades.

 

Many who were old enough probably voted for the FFP and have learnt that this government has the power and simply ignores reality. 

 

This government dissolved the FFP, banned its leaders from politics for 10 years and simply thought that was that. They opened Pandora's Box and had NO idea what they have unleashed in Thailand.

 

They simply have no ideas of what the students want or how to give it to them.

 

The age of the dinosaur has long gone though there are still pockets left over here and there.

 

If the student protests get larger and go on longer they will have to call in the Army under Apirat who is longing to unleash them and their pretty toys of death. If that happens, then there will be serious bloodshed and possibly another coup and it will be the death knell for many people and for the army too.

It's weird that posters some how think this protest is different if anything with a pro military PM any protests will be quashed faster than ever before

Sit back and watch a state of emergency and curfews imposed and some of us (not on this thread aparantly) know exactly what's coming

I never heard of that, talk about the land of the free that's an outrageous infringement of basic human rights. I wonder if that is really legal even here?

Lucky to see the students at least stand up against this so called government. Just covered their ongoing junta actions against all people in the country as a legal government.  But all know they are more corrupt and leading into a grave!

But the malls, cinemas Skytrain, Subway, public transport are OK to remain open though.

 

Not to mention daily flights to and from China.

So what doesn't make it a legal document and the company is challenging freedom of speech and signing a document under the threat of being terminated which is duress and Would be thrown out in court.

It’s irrelevant what I think about the politics as it’s not my country.  It’s refreshing to see Thai youth standing up for what they believe.  Sure you can be cynical and say that they are being sucked in by yet another billionaire.  Well, every knows that all those in power positions are wealthy.  So if being rich is a crime then it’s a choice between bad or worse.  Seems the students are swayed by his message and willing to stand up to authority to be heard ... very refreshing.  Meaningful change never happens easily it’s messy and can be painful.
