I've travelled Bangkok - Samui many times with car (passing Hua Hin). Never had any problems.

However sometimes you will see some traffic comming in the wrong direction because people want to shorten their trip by 500 meter and taking the U-turn before their planned turn and continues in the wrong direction on the wrong side...

One part is kind of bumpy, don't remember if it's before Hua Hin or after (coming from Bangkok)

But otherwise it's ok.

The road is of the usual standard and is in fact 3 lanes in places Phetchburi to Hua Hin, its not the road that is the problem but the drivers as usual. The road is very fast.

No Tolls out of Bangkok.

Enjoy your stay, Hua Hin and Cha Am have the best beach's in Thailand.

All over Thailand its what I do, travel.

Go to Cha Am Lagoon next time, its without question the widest, and is also quite.

If you know a better one let me know.

Quite what? Busy? Nice? Peaceful? Beautiful? Boring?

You've lost me!

The bumpy bit is between Cha-am and Pranburi, its been like that for about 9 nine years.

The traffic police like to nab drivers along this stretch for staying in the outside lane.

The fact that it is the only usable lane does not concern them when money is involved.
