Yinn Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Bad news for fun people. ”Wan Lai” water playing are cancelled in Khon Kaen city, Kao San Road Bangkok and Bang Saen Chonburi already because the coronavirus problem. I think more orbortors will do the same now and cancel. https://www.thairath.co.th/news/society/1787208 https://tnnthailand.com/content/30949 1 1 1
anchadian Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Surely I read recently that it was going ahead. More places to follow I guess.
Isaanbiker Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Oh no! And we already bought the biggest guns you can get. 1 1
chickenslegs Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Does this just apply to organised events? If the intention is to stop all the spontaneous water fights in the streets and from the beds of pick-up trucks, I have a very strong feeling that the Thai people will defy these orders. 1

geriatrickid Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Whatever the reason or motive , it was a good decision and I do hope, enforced. Drought was reason enough, but good news is good news. 1

Sure. 55555 Is not Prayut government order, only local orbortor. I think other orbortor will copy now. 2

But unless you test everybody, you have no idea how many people have or carry the virus. Millions probably had it, many got a runny nose, went to bed and felt fine the following day. The statistics are useless and only report known cases 3
Susco Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 I think so far China has done a pretty good job in containing the virus, but they didn't go over the top quarantining complete provinces in the early stages without knowing what is really going on. In my opinion, you ain't seen nothing yet.
PatOngo Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Well wouldn't that bring a tear to a glass eye! ???? 1

Do you think a bottle of Johnny Black will change his mind?
Tayaout Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 It seems like I'm part of the minority on this forum who enjoy songkran. I would not mind skipping this year but I don't think my familly will!
marko kok prong Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 They are turning off the city water where i live because of the drought ,we have only just got a trickle back where i live about 1.5 km out of town due to drought,we only get that for a few hours morning and evening, the last 3 weeks nothing had to call water trucks. Of course a lot of people have bores so rather than thinking lets save our bore water knowing Thai's they will happily use it and literally throw part of their supply down the drain. To be honest i couldnt give a fig as i stay in for 4/5 days over Songkran anyway.
