Locals hit out at proposals to send Thai returnees from South Korea to Hua Hin and Phetchaburi

The Petchaburi and Hua Hin area has reacted strongly to suggestions that Thai returnees from South Korea be quarantined in tourist areas.

Representatives of eleven municipalities across Petchaburi and Prajuap Khirikhan provinces have appeared with placards saying: We don't want Covid-19 on our beach.

It has been proposed that some of thousands of so called "Phee Noi" or Little Ghosts be quarantined for 14 days in places like Chao Samran beach in Petchaburi where they would be housed at the army hotel there.

The little ghosts are illegal workers fleeing the Covid-19 ravaged country and coming back to their homeland.

Several locations have been chosen as good sites for the quarantine but the locals don't want them.

It wasn't that they didn't sympathise with their compatriots, they said, it was just that they had to understand the Hua Hin area is a tourist area.

There were Thai and foreign tourists. The downturn in tourism was bad enough and this could be a further problem.

Daily News quoted people as saying that Chao Samran beach had beautiful sands and was a popular place with visitors and the army hotel has been there since the time of King Rama 6. It shouldn't be used for quarantining.

Meanwhile the hashtag #savehuahin was trending on social media in the area on Friday.

Surely for the lower ranking officers, who does not qualify for one of the villas or palaces.

" Army Hotel " could be Thai speak for the Glass House.

the Thai military owns all the coast line south of HH. They have a beautiful golf course and are expanding the train station for their convenience at that base. They could easily setup a camp for "virus people" anywhere in Thailand on a military base.

put them on the aircraft carrier.

True story.

Worked in the O.R. many years ago - in the Anaesthetic room.

Just before giving the injection, the Anaesthetist would say:

"Just a little <deleted>"

An elderly female patient once replied:

"Oh, I've all sorts of pricks in my life"

Still dunno what meaning she attached to it.....

(As usual, am unable to use any emojis)

Ha ha, I like your original post with the misprit, before your correction:

'but them on the aircraft carrier.' When I saw it had been edited, I was expecting you had changed it to 'butt', to fit in with your many fetishes.

last night i walked up and down Soi 80 here in Hua Hin. That is something I rarely do anymore because it is a pointless exercise.

reminds me of the place where airlines store their old planes in the desert. anyway.

it was extremely quiet for a Friday night. I noticed a almost complete lack of local guys. Maybe five. To the man on the Honda 500X adventure bike with all the boxes all over it and gunned your engine that sounds like a lawnmower you look like a complete dork. Stop wearing flip flops and sober up you almost dropped the bike on your crash landing.

Of course while bar girls might be worried about the virus business comes first. Tonight is more recon.

shopping during the day at Tops Market, Villa Market, GMart and around town in general I am seeing more Thais wearing masks. But the masks disappear at night where people are eating and drinking obviously.

i have yet to hear anyone say they know someone who actually has the virus. not even a friend of a friend.

with the new batch of virus returning to Thailand here are some links to some items that are hard to find now you may want to order from Lazada:

At 92 Baht she it looks like a bargain. I notice on the last image it says 'bust', so I'm guessing it just wore out.

170 arrived late last night (Friday, 6 March) on buses from Bangkok.

They are being accommodated in an "army resort" just south of Hua Hin, adjoining Khao Ta Kiab (within walking distance from NCC1701A's abode).

Petchaburi and Hua Hin are doing fine....send them to the cash strapped resort areas like Pattaya...

Close one or two national parks, possibly far from inhabited centers and make your quarantine there ...

On Thai social media, a medical doctor suggested that a dozen or so could be housed at the homes of Prayut Government Ministers and Deputy Ministers; to which I would add, the homes of Thai Army generals.

How do you know this?

I heard rumours of a demonstration at the clock tower planned for today, not sure if anything happened.

I'm reading confirmation from a couple of hours ago that this base isn't being used.

It's Thai language but google translate works, https://www.dailynews.co.th/politics/761548

I heard elsewhere they they've instead been sent to somewhere in Chonburi

I would have thought Government House would have been the ideal place to keep an eye on everyone, after all they have it all under control. I can say no more.

Army hotel? I thought the head of the Army was going to sort this? Ah, this Corona virus thing has taken the heat off.
