COvid is the flu...just Darwin doing its natural selection...wash hands, stop putting fingers in nose, eyes, and mouth.  The whole thing is overblown.

some people never learn. How old are you? apparently in Italy they are prioritising younger vs older for ventilators hence why the death rate has shot up

They're not Emirate states.

But UAE residents are also banned from coming to Thailand.

They're paranoid of the infidels.

They are Emirates, I did not state part of the UAE.

just looking at some facts and adding common sense and what we learnt over the past few weeks should tell us that the case numbers in Thailand can be questioned. Shortly before shut down of Wuhan loads of Chinese from THERE were in Thailand for holiday. Also not enough testing in T as they cannot afford to show to many case not to get on ban lists. When you look at the IATA list you can find quite some countries where  T is on the watchlist (same as Japan) bcs. both in my mind have a high dark rate due to not a lot of testing and down to mentality. Also why we hear about rasing cases in Thai hospitals with 'viral penumonia'?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on it.

I have watched a few videos taken in Pattaya, and all from the last few days.  Almost no one there is wearing a mask.  Maybe they think they are immune.  Now I admit, the videos focus on hookers and hoodlums but if you think you are going to go there and avoid the virus, I'm going to guess that our next outbreak will decimate Walking Street.

Good luck.  You'll need it.

SAND , OSTRICH and BURYING ONE'S head comes to mind here .

The time to realize the "sh*t" has actually/really hit the fan in Thailand (Re:- COVID19) is when the shelves in the 7/11's are not being restocked on a daily basis ..that will be the true litmus test to how serious it actually has become and they'll be no hiding the facts then   ????

A Thai Air plane got held at Shanghai for seven hours if that's what he was referring to. It was under CCA rules not Thailands.

There was a story on another thread about one flight being delayed at Shanghai airport because on arrival the passengers were deplaned in small batches for detailed screening and for very detailed cleaning before new passengers were boarded.

'Stop saying it's a bad flu': Doctor fighting coronavirus shares dramatic account

A doctor at the heart of the coronavirus outbreak in Italy has spoken of the dramatic fight against the disease, saying it is like relentless war and describing how wards are filling up and doctors are working non-stop to save lives.

In a post shared on Facebook, Dr Daniele Macchini likened the disease to a "tsunami that has swept us all".

Taking the median of the World Health Organization figures for deaths from influenza 470,000 people die from influenza complications each year.  Nobody every quarantines because of it.  Businesss don't close down because of it.  People don't cancel their travel plans because of it.

All of this stuff that is happening is just silly.  It is going to run its course no matter what.  Next year no one will hardly remember it.

I agree Thailand is a gossipy place but the computer crime laws are also strict and ruthless, the government has made clear it will use these for spreading rumours about COVID. Rumours without fact are dangerous but it also stops any genuine concerns because of the fear of unjust prosecution.

My personal belief is that Thailand cases can be found in the published figures reported in the PUI daily. The problem being that no mention is ever made of who has been tested positive or negative. So a best guess for me would be in the 1000 up range who are positive and have been identified but who knows how many more walking around.

People are forgetting 80-90% of people may get symptoms and recover naturally from it so maybe they are testing only the serious cases which to be honest is probably the best solution as it won't stir mass panic ( ,no need to stress the health service) .But then you have the worlds ( controlled) press <deleted>!!

whatever you decide, the precautions being given again and again is to:

- Thoroughly wash your hands multiple times every day

- Avoid touching things like stair rails in shopping centres and more

- Don't put your fingers in your mouth and avoid touching any part of your face.

- Don't shake hands, & try to keep 1 to 2 metres distance from other people.

All sounds pretty reasonable 30-60 days w/o too many hassles. Given what's going on it looks like rates are low just everywhere in the world.

Sitting on the tarmac doesn't sound like fun. Have to keep my eye on the banks not exchanging money....a bit strange.

Have you heard about ATM's? No need to change money at an exchange booth.

Completly agree with you , jacko45 isn't really taking it seriously , up to him

Or perhaps I am not panicking.

If I was in Italy I would take it more seriously. I also decided not to have a night on Walking St tonight.

(Unless I get bored)

Use your Atm card in Thailand to with draw your daily amount, you shouldn't be carrying alot of cash around anyway, i'm guessing they are not exchanging cash as it may have corona virus on it due to the fact cash is handle so much and it obviously coming from outside Thailand, just another overreaction, don't allow mainstream media to scare you, they are full of s**t this will be all forgotten in about 3 months and we will be back onto North Korea nuclear threat or some other bulls**t.

Just think of all those those potentially virus-laden fingers which have pressed those very same ATM buttons. . .

We're all doomed, I tell you!

Look at the figures on the chart in this thread.  All SouthEast Asia countries are low on the list.

The heat is the key for the relatively low figures.

I would like to think so 'cos we sure have a lot of heat at the moment. I would just like to see some scientific confirmation which is slow coming, or simply untrue!

You have more chance of jumping from your hotel balcony then catching the corona virus.  Pretty sure you can get a 1 month extension at Pattaya immigration for about 2000 baht. You may want to check the new law Thailand just passed about holding planes on the tarmac, it would not be nice having to sit on a plane for an unknown time.

Well you better put on an airbag because a lot of people will be jumping...
