Polishing counter tops

Featured Replies

We have black counter tops, cheap stuff commonly seen in Thailand, probably best described as "faux granite".

The kitchen counter tops are severely stained and I want to clean it up. What's the best way?

I was thinking of a bit of buffing and sealing it afterwards. Is that the right way?

Yes that's the only way   you can use one of those motorised car polishing machines

If the counter top is a veneer of something, there's not much you can do.  Replace with real granite would be the best option.

didnt the op say faux granite, probably meaning its a vinyl wrap of sorts.

On the bright side its also going to impervious so any stains can be lifted, wiped off.

Yes real granite is quite cheap in Thailand  compared to the rip off prices in the UK.

Yeah it's fake stuff but can't figure out if it has a outer layer or not.

I tried to manually polish with a delicate cutting compound for cars but it didn't work.

Most of the damage is heat damage.

hello, do you know a good cheap alternative ? Don't want an expensive kitchen countertop for tenants who do not care and do not know how to clean correctly.

Any idea ? What kind of shop can propose something cheap, only few thousand thb ?

thank you.
