If he has said this then it is utterly deplorable. Could you imagine a minister in a normal developed nation stating that all the Asians are the reason for the spread of this and should be avoided at all costs. It is almost Hitler esque.

Unfortunately, you are right BUT I haven't heard any western minister making similar claims in recent times. Correct me if I'm wrong though. 
 

Now I know, that in years gone by, 'colorful' conservatives like Australia's Pauline Hansen have made statements like "we are in danger of being swamped by Asians" although I consider that to be more alarmist and simply a reflection of a fear of too many foreigners coming to live in that country and not quite on the same level as saying foreigners of a particular race are "dirty".

 

Therefore, if you compare what Pauline Hansen said back then (in 1997 I believe) with Anutin's current comments, the former are comparatively mild compared to the latter's inflammatory and extremely racist undertones.

He is probably saying what many are thinking... but being very rude in such position reflects the IQ of many officials in high positions...

However, not wearing a mask in crowded places such as BTS or plane, is in my opinion not being appreciated by the Thai people in general. If Thai people don't wear masks, it is their choice in their country, but we as foreigners should be exemplary and act according to what is expected.

Yes, racism and xenophobia are ugly traits within lots of human beings that expose themselves more in uncertain and unnerving times . What is even more disturbing is when people single out a particular race as all being racist and xenophobic. The irony seems to be lost on them.

Perhaps most, but no matter who is being referenced, the Thai tourism industry and many Thai businesses reliant on foreign tourist income will suffer for a long time to come. Russians are the biggest group of 'westerners' in Thailand, so it might not be a wise idea to <deleted> them off. Myself, I think all people worldwide are fundamentally good - we can stereotype a little here and there, but overall, I have zero issues with either Chinese or Russian tourist behavior. I certainly would never go around making racist remarks and pigeonhole everyone from a particular nationality or race like that. His remarks are disgusting and proves he is a poorly educated bigot who should resign and hang his head in shame for eternity.

 

He should be banned from entering all 'farang' countries he seems to despise so much for life, and never leave his 'beloved' Thailand. Yet he does nothing about the pollution prematurely killing and sickening many of his own citizens. Let him live in his own ignorance breathing in all the wonderfully polluted air, especially in Chiang Mai, the most polluted city in the world, where he made his remarks.

Like I said in my post, 'no, not officially' but there has been numerous accounts in many western countries of the same thing against Asians and sometimes unofficial sentiments can be more powerful than just the ranting of an uneducated fool..

The reason you have a team of writers is because you're the sort of person who doesn't have the time and/or intelligence to tweet gracefully. Why would a paid team of writers write something that is so obviously insulting and stupid?

Have you seen the state of some thai bathrooms? Safer not to shower or you would be spreading more viruses/diseases.

 

Anyway i have a friend in bkk whos neighbours family have tested positive and they are thai. There hasnt been any mention of them. Only whats got a link to tourists is being reported to the media. Be worried people!! Problem is far worse than should be and these idiots are pushing out anyone that can speak and make them look bad even though they clearly miss judge others intelligence and their own.

Guess we will see what the little boys with big guns have them for soon enough if someone doesnt get a handle on things.
