Chaiyaphum villagers thrown into panic by South Korean man self-isolating at home

A village community in Chaiyaphum in Thailand's north east was thrown into a panic yesterday evening when a South Korean man started going berserk in his Thai wife's house.

M. Park, 62, had been on day 11 of a 14 day quarantine with his Thai wife when he started losing it.

Ten police and medical staff arrived to help him into an ambulance to be taken to hospital. One officer, not knowing what to expect, was holding a metal rod normally used to subdue out of control suspects.

The South Korean's Thai wife Mrs Park said that her husband had come back through Suvarnabhumi on the 5th of March and had no symptoms of coronavirus.

But he had an underlying mental health condition, she explained, and his medications had just run out. She hoped this explanation would allay the concerns of her neighbors.

The drama happened in the Nayang Khak sub-district in Thapsathit district of Chaiyaphum.

I don't think so, Koreans do taekwondo ...but thai do thaiboxing.

Not all Korean martial arts were/are Tae Kwon Do, though differences may be slight.  Years back, I studied Myo Sim Karate.

Myo Sim Karate’s founder and Grandmaster, Sung H. Hong, is from Korea. In Korea, Mr. Hong studied and earned a Master’s rank in Chang Moo Kwan Tang Soo Do. In the 50’s, the Korean government began to unify Korean martial arts into what is now known as Tae Kwon Do. Mr. Hong did not agree with the abandonment and prejudice against traditional martial arts schools in Korea. In 1958, he established his own style of Hong Sung-Hyun Tang Soo Do. In 1963 he came to the United States and started teaching his style of martial arts in Northern Virginia and DC. After moving to the States, Mr. Hong officially named his style Myo Sim Karate and Self Defense. An equally valid name of this style is Myo Sim Karate Do (the Way of the Ultimate Mind and the Empty Hand) but Mr. Hong prefers simply Myo Sim Karate. Mr. Hong originally studied martial arts in Korea. Some of these traditions were originally from Okinawa (now politically part of modern Japan). These martial arts were influenced by Chinese Kempo.

Having been a policeman, a 62 year old can kill or injure another. Age, sex or appearance is not a gauge for safety. We once had an 82 year old lady in jail who had killed her husband with a ball bat while he sat drinking coffee in the kitchen. Please share your experience responding to such calls.

Yes 82 year old ladies are also super dangerous, we all know that...they are known the be violent killers and if i was a policeman i would send the Hanuman to her.....the full team...
