Thailand reports 50 new coronavirus infections for total of 322

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand reported 50 new coronavirus infections, taking its tally to 322, a health official said on Friday, with the majority located in Bangkok, the capital.

 

A group of 41 new cases is linked to earlier infections, while another, of nine, centres on overseas arrivals and contact with foreigners, Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, director-general of the disease control department, told a news conference.

 

Thailand has had one death in the outbreak, with 43 patients having recovered and gone home, while 278 are still in hospital.

Fifty new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed on Friday (March 20), taking the total number of infections in Thailand since the outbreak over the 300 mark, Dr Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoen, director-general of the Department of Disease Control, said.

 

The number of new cases on Friday was 10 lower than on Thursday -- 41 of them linked to the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium and entertainment venues -- bringing the total number of Covid-19 confirmed cases to 322.

 

One French man has recovered.

For sure and this is going to take much longer than expected.  As each country around the world now faces constant growing numbers, medical supplies and protective equipment will soon start to run out. Soon everybody around the world, will understand the true meaning and results of a Pandemic.

Remember folks, the numbers are low because they are following the trail and only testing those connected to confirmed cases. It could be probable there are many more.

They'll need someone to blame when they can't pay for those pick-ups, big bikes and other poor financial decisions their third-rate educational system has allowed them to make on their low salaries.

Where ever the opportunity arises there's always that sniping remark , that little dig aimed at foreigners in this .. With 50-60 new confirmed "official" cases daily, you can darned well bet that they're not going to end up catching up with and identifying each and every one of the various other people that those 50 to 60 a day had come into contact with....before getting sick enough to seek treatment.

They are reporting on where the cases are coming from, how is that finger pointing? Far more are cases from other Thais. Should they just lie if any cases are a result of contact with foreigners to protect your feelings? You state no Thai would infect another Thai but the report stated 51 have!

It does seem like the time to isolate now. And you would think that 50 -60 new cases in one day would raise the flag to phase 3.

It looks as though as of yesterday's daily status report, the number of CV patients in serious/critical condition has climbed from 1 to 3...

 

Also as of Thursday, 3325 PUI hospitalized -- 1800 in government hospitals and 1525 in private hospitals. That's up 274 patients from the prior days total of 3051.

 

Also as of yesterday's/Thursday's report, when there were still 272 total confirmed CV cases (incl. 228 still hospitalized), the nationality breakdown was as follows:

 

Chinese -- 26

Thai -- 227

Other -- 19

 

Italian 2, English UK 1, Singapore 1, Japanese 3, French Guinea 1, Danish 3, American 2, Belgian 1, French 1, Canadian 1, Pakistan 1, Unknown 2.

 

Also interesting among the 272 is gender breakdown -- 170 males, 90 females, 5 gender unknown. So men thus far are taking the brunt of this.

Compared to the prior day Wednesday, no new Chinese cases, one new American and one new Unknown nationality case. All the other new cases (58 out of 60 for Thursday) were Thai.

We knew this inevitable event was going to blow up, and the narrative is that foreigners are responsible and not the Chinese.

Next thing we need to worry about is the possibility of petty crimes initiated towards foreigners because of so many lost jobs.

Worldwide, the mortality rate is 10,048 / 245,912 = 4.08%

 

Sure, there are likely many more infections that would reduce the real mortality....

 

But technically, of the 245,912 only 88,465 have recovered, so looking from a binary perspective, the mortality rate is 10,048 / 88,465 = 11.3%...as until the "Active Cases" die or recover, they can't be counted...

 

...so, Thailand should have around 12 bodies (Philippines has 17 dead on 217 case)...

The Chinese are foreigners in Thailand. Everybody else except Thais are foreigners in Thailand, honestly.

as thailand numbers suddenly rise, they can pretend ...IT IS THE FARANG'S FAULT

 

 

so phuket now gives 30 days, but need letter from embassy, as extending anybody on faith, would have been too difficult ...  if this thing is here to be 3-6 months  x 1900 baht .... you see how they can re-fill some of their pockets

There is no narrative from what I have seen from any Thai's online outside of Anutin that foreigners are responsible, the only place im seeing that narrative is currently from the easily offended on Thaivisa. There is a ton of flak and blame being aimed at Thais at the boxing community though right now from other Thais
