Thank goodness for some rational thinking!

If the need is to stop the 'spread' of this disease, the only way is through self-quarantine.

Unfortunately, all too many selfish people require governmental action to insure that this is done.

Rational thinking, my goat. To be realistic, the only way to stop the spread of the disease is complete community lockdown. Access to hospitals - there are at least ten in CM - supermarkets and food markets without permission are all natural infection spreading venues.

Chiang Mai is locking down at 1800, 3/23/2020 for 3 weeks.

News is up.

While you are technically correct, in that only a 'total quarantine' will completely 'stop' the spread, closing all non-essential businesses is the next best thing. It beats the hell out of keeping the bars, restaurants, shopping malls, movies, and massage parlors open, right?

So we limit our exposure by visiting the markets only when absolutely needed, practice good hygiene during and after, and maybe say a prayer or two to the Great Pumpkin or whoever our own personal Power may be.

Not locking down.  Read the OP.

We call it locking down... not up. Regional Slang.

Grabbed a pizza earlier at Meechok and was told every restaurant will still be open for business, you can still get take outs.

Your best bet is to order in advance and just go there and pick it up yourself.

So this won't change much, you can still get pretty much everything, just grab a take out.

The real lock-down would be to prohibit the Chinese from coming into the country......but sadly that's a little too late!

It is time to stop all internal travel and confine people to their residences.

No more pussyfooting around with this gradualist nonsense.

And you think that letting in Italians, Americans, Spanish, Germans, French, Koreans is alright for you?
