Pattaya finally gets the Covid-19 message - It is a lock down in all but name

Thai media reported that Pattaya was effectively in lock down. 

 

77kaoded published an article with a captioned picture of a deserted area that said: No difference to a lock down. 

 

They said that when a whole swathe of places including bars, clubs and restaurants were ordered shut on March 18th many did not comply.

Many flouted the urgent instructions to help contain the spread of Covid-19.

 

Then the authorities moved in to enforce the ban which is now being observed. 

 

They reported that very little remained open, there were hardly any vehicles on the streets and the beach at night was deserted.

The latest announcements to make all restaurants take away only merely added to the ghost town feel of the once thriving resort. 

 

Pattaya - the former Queen of the Eastern Seaboard - has lost her crown.

In the part of naklua I am in, it has gradually been getting quieter and quieter, it was not all that busy even pre Corona.

If you have gone to immigration with any Covid-19 symptoms, please tell an immigration officer.  They seem totally unaware what they are forcing people to do.  If you don't go to immigration for whatever reason, you will be fined

I hear from some Thai people that they now can’t get out of Pattaya? Police blocking the roads? If you want to leave they put you in 2 week quarantine camp. This true or fake news? Anyone know?

I think Bangkok is still the epicentre..but no doubt in my mind Pattaya not far behind.

Bangkok is still waiting for a full lockdown. Most offices are still open and people still going to work.  I would expect moving to a full lockdown soon, then Immigration will have to close.

If Thailand would have stopped Chinese people from entering the Kingdom, there wouldn't be huge numbers of infected people.

 

These people brought the virus straight from Wuhan and Thais let them travel until March.

 

Shouldn't there be rolling heads now???

She developed a sore throat, fever, chills and a headache on 5 January, flew directly with her family and a tour group from Wuhan to Suvarnabhumi Airport on 8 January, where she was detected using thermal surveillance and then hospitalised. Thailand's second case occurred in a 74-year-old woman who arrived in Bangkok on a flight from Wuhan on 17 January.^[21] On 21 January, Nakornping Hospital reported a suspected case of a 18-year-old male patient who arrived in Chiang Mai from Wuhan with a high fever; his blood samples were sent to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok for further analysis.^[22][23] His condition had improved according to an official statement released by Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital on 31 January.^[24]

 

On 22 January, the MOPH announced two additional confirmed cases. The third was a 68-year-old man, a Chinese tourist as in previous cases.

 

The fourth case was the first case for a Thai citizen; a 73-year-old woman hospitalised at Nakhon Pathom Hospital [th] in Nakhon Pathom Province, arriving from Wuhan.^[25][26]

Those measures are all over Thailand, restricted travel to other towns and provinces, not only Pattaya. There are no quarantine camps, you just need a good reason to travel or wont be allowed..

Phuket's the one getting into serious travel bans, not Pattaya.

Why is everyone wearing face masks anyway?? Face mask does <deleted> all. It’s not airborne. You catch it when an infected person touches and object and then you touch it within a few hours and proceed to touch your eyes, nose or mouth. You don’t breathe it in unless someone coughs in your face..but <deleted> anyway since it will be in your eyes. ????‍♂️

There's at least 1 'quarantine camp' in Ubon. They are an open holding area for the transients to serve out their 14-day quarantine. It looks like each province can take its own preventative measures and precautions.
