If it's falling apart after 1 week, I hate to think of how bad it would be after 5 months. They need to get their faces out of their computer screen and realise they are dealing with actual living people, not a computer model.

So how would you suggest the authorities try to stop the virus spreading?

I feel very sorry for those that really did pull up stakes and would have great difficulty returning to their home countries.  Can only hope some really did plan for such eventualities and have not been living paycheck to paycheck, saving nothing, etc.  The worst thing is Thailand may not have any sort of planning for farangs living there, that have families, or dependents, may be foreigner phobic, etc.  The current regime has not done a lot to endear itself to retirees or even long stay tourists for that matter

And no one mentions anything about the imminent threat of 'climate change'. Instead the narrative moves from one hysteria to another.

After 9.11 we got the Patriot Act and the world changed forever and so too the world will change after covid.19

“Those who give up liberty for security deserve neither.”

There's more to the story than a random Chinese eating bat-soup.

Thailand produces it's own food which to me is a factor.

Hospitals wherever you go arent able to cope, from America, UK, European Countries , Thailand. There's no cure..so the plan is not get it!

I think there's a false sense of security back in the old country wheather you're a brit, american or random european.

You're on familiar soil but the hospitals will be swamped there as in any country and you could easily find yourself homeless if you don't have something already planned.

You could live really cheap in Thailand if you wanted to.

Co2 scam is old news. Moved onto virus scam.

The Nanny State fascists want world control.

148,000 people in the USA die from Lung cancer each year and 80% of them are smokers.  Similar bad stupid habits exist for so called heart disease, obesity, and other life choices.  Thailnd's percentage numbers seem to be on par with other countries.  So it kind of peeves me off now to all of a sudden worry about health.  Countries had years to work and be prepared, but instead just pray for a golden cure at the end.  Remember two sayings:  1, Boy Scout Motto:  Be Prepared.  2 : An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Yep we knew in the 1970s smoking caused cancer and heart disease.

Yet they ban tennis and Sunday drives.

Very strange.

What about people travelling on public transport?

Not so much. The virus will spread anyway. Banning Chinese and cruise ships will prevent future ones though.

For most people the virus is mild.

So if it's mild for most people are you suggesting that the authorities just ignore it?

Cruise ships will ban future infections. How's that?

so are you going to just ignore it all when someone in your family or amongst your friend gets infected and spends 3 weeks in hospital and possibly in ICU and some die?

So you suggest just ignore it. If all governments just ignored it's presence how many citizens would demand that government take action to stop the spread of the disease? Seems to me that would be 99% of the population.

Are we going to enter nanny state lockdowns every 5 years? Cause the Chinese will do this again if they can.

Better to just ban Chinese from travel. This is the start of bio war.

But heart disease doesn't spread like wild fire and jump from person to person.

The virus does readily jump from person to person and makes many people very sick and die and consumes much resources and health workers also get sick and some die, the spread can be slowed and reduced so surely human beings as a group would want it reduced and ultimately removed as a serious problem.

I guess what your saying is that the virus should just be ignored, no social distancing, and when someone who has the disease gives it to you and you spend a week / 3 weeks in ICU and you put the lives of health workers at risk and you use massive amounts of health care resources then you will just laugh and say bad luck. How intelligent.

Intelligent people dont see the world in black and white. They also don't misquote people.

They take measured responses and not panic.

Chinese Gov let this fly for months and covered it up. It most likely started prior to December.

Yet we have Cambodians eating bat soup and no virus spread.

How so?

It seems that the virus wasnt spread by accident.

You are free to have your opinion.  And yes some would die.  What you over look and do not understand that millions of people had or have the virus and with little to no effect.  The extreme actions being done by governments will eventually cause more deaths than this virus did or will.

Of course there will be an economy. There have been huge financial crashes before. Societies recover.

There will be a skeleton of an economy...

Finance and economy are two different things.

You can propell finance with fake money, as central banks are doing now, and have been doing for a decade.

But you can't fake the economy: no car production, no plane flying, no restaurant serving food, no movie shooting, no park and amusement park operating, and so on...what is left of the economy? Electricity production...

It is not rubbish.  They have tested only a very tiny tiny fraction of the world's population.  The so called mortality rates are ridiculously calculated as they only compare those deaths against the known/confirmed cases.  Millions more people no doubt had or have the virus but are not tested.  The actual mortality rate due exactly to the corona virus is a fraction of the values floating around and being stated.

These are the same people (hopefully less than 99%) who will blame the government for having lost their jobs, once the pandemic over.

All these socialist government in the West have turned their populations into crybabies/snowflakes you name it...

And it is far from conclusive how many of the elderly, smoker, HIV carriers, and other people with depressed immune systems would have died from other things such as various flu strains, etc.  No real details are rolled up yet or disseminated, or maybe not even collected because people are rushing to do things

Social distancing of 2m is good. I hate kissing, hugging and hand shaking anyway.

But lets keep most businesses open from May.

6 week lockdown is enough to slow things down. Otherwise China has won. They ruined the world economy on purpose.

The Americans bomb large parts of the world, but that's not contagious...
