April 7, 20205 yr Popular Post I've been getting out on my bike three to four times a week since this virus situation started, I hope to continue but that of course depends on changes to government orders. I take my rides early in the morning by driving to a remote location and then riding alone over distances up to 90Kms, no stops at any time during my rides. I've had a couple of instances where a rider has tucked in behind me when I have overtaken them, in each case I have pulled over, let them pass and taken the first alternative route to avoid them doing it again. Surprisingly, but then again perhaps not, while most cyclists I see are riding alone, I have seen several large groups out together - it seems the message to stay separate has not been understood.
April 7, 20205 yr Popular Post Cycling for pleasure is a definite no-no under the Malaysian Movement Control Order, so I have to make the most of it whenever I can It's a pity the shops are so close
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post I ride my bike in central Bangkok everyday. I do not see the problem with riding in the streets.
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post Try to get out most days, always solo only contact possibility at junctions, hope we can continue to do so.
April 8, 20205 yr Published 3 weeks ago: The Royal Thai Army this morning began spraying roads in Bangkok with disinfectant to combat the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus . the Royal Thai Army units have been deployed to carry out the daily cleaning from 1am to 5am until the end of March. Other countries do the same. Search YouTube: truck spraying I'm wondering if the virus is in the air and if it's completely safe to ride a bike in BKK (with a mask). Some countries have banned cycling.
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post I'm running everyday. Usually 5k, but also sometimes like yesterday 10k. Easy to do if you live in village. Jungle starts behind your house and you are taking dirt roads.

Checkpoint in Bangkrajao yesterday afternoon meant my solo ride and carefully avoiding people at traffic lights went by the wayside; A. I had unwanted contact as social distancing wasn't being observed at the checkpoint. B. They issued me with a surgical mask that they wanted me to wear, I had to write down my name in their log, they were also spraying the bicycle tyres. Non gloved hands handing out loose facemasks... I'll avoid that loop next time I'm out.
April 8, 20205 yr The guy who had a road accident then, though unknowingly, was positive for covid 19 and consequently over 100 health staff were placed in quaranteen as opposed taking care of sick people does not make you feel selfish!!!!!!
April 8, 20205 yr Om my god, Chomper! We agree on something! Loving getting out on the quiet roads. Pollution is down and fear of death is greatly reduced. Enjoy it while you can.

You need to immediately contact Manager and let them know, i expect they were all white skinned anyway

April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post To all you bike riding fanatics, I have a news flash for you. You will not have any dire consequences if you sit back and take a <deleted> break of not riding for a couple of weeks.
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post We are doing that too. Lovely exercise, since all of the gyms are closed. No danger at all. This virus is NOT airborne. Sure, if you ride past someone who is infected, and they sneeze or cough in your direction, there is a chance. But wearing a mask helps. And one takes precautions. Life is a risky affair. I have a friend who had a buddy who went to the bathroom at work. He did not return after 30 minutes. He went to check. The guy had slipped on a wet patch on the tile floor. Split open his skull, and died instantly. He was healthy and 28 years old. So, in life you never know. Nothing wrong with taking modest risks. Better to get out of the house, and get some exercise. If you are wearing a mask, you are not putting anyone at risk. It is all good. And besides. The Zombie Apocalypse is not coming. Cases are already starting to level off here. Sorry if that news disappoints the panic mongering crowd.
April 8, 20205 yr Still riding on average twice a week at the moment, despite AQI being around 250 - 300 on a daily basis. Today was first time in a very long time AQI has been under 200. 197 today. The thing to note is these readings are significantly higher than those being reported for the most polluted cities in the world. Nevertheless, we are allowed to exercise and riding as a group of 2 we keep around 20 metres apart during the ride. have encountered other cyclists, but they're usually heading in the other direction.

Up here in the mountains, more than 1/2 the rides involve steep hill climbs. The ONLY way to maintain conditioning for those is to keep riding regularly, not take time off. Also the cycling helps to keep our weight down.
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post I bike for about 30 km everyday from 8 pm. It is a bit of a highlight after being indoors all day and keeps the blood pressure in check. To those of us that have had a stroke or a TIA, an hour a day is essential if it is not going to happen again.
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post I don't ride but I'm fully supportive of those who do. It's an excellent exercise. Exercising outdoors is very beneficial both physically and mentally, which is why I do a vigorous walk of at least 1 hour (often more) every morning. I do not perceive that there is any risk regarding C19 from either walking or cycling. Social distancing is easy to achieve when outdoors. Keep it it up guys.

April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post At last - something we can totally agree on, Chomps! Next time we lock horns, remind me not to resort to, "On yer bike!" Seriously, stay safe and healthy in the saddle.

Will you remember this the next time your running around doing shopping and other things ? Or does this not apply to you ?
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post My 14 day confinement finishes tonight, so first light in the morning, will be out on my bike, mostly round the back roads. for an hour or so. maybe call at the shops too, just to be safe The only difference is, my bike has an engine, due to its owner being too fat, too old, and far too lazy . But good luck out there folks and stay safe
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post I get out at least three times a week through the rice fields close to our house......peaceful and beautiful out there. The other days I usually walk for an hour, rarely see other people and carry a big stick for the dogs. Riding today and the 25 year old bike chain broke....Oopsie! Friend towed me with his bike and a bungee cord for around three kilos. Still a fun ride. To me a bike is the best form of transportation for the cost involved and the health benefits.
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post I love cycling! Still going out here in the Chiang Rai area on my mtb, despite the virus and the dirty air, about every other day for a 80 - 110 km trip. Managed 1300km in March. Yesterday I got on the bike at 06.45. Relatively cool at 21C., air not too bad, quiet roads, clocked 96km. Didn’t even stop for coffee. I think it has become even more important to keep fit in these Corona times. i do most of my cycling alone, I hate group cycling..... Along the Mae Kok, September last year:
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post Yes, riding 5 times a week, early in the morning about half an hour, so about 12km., the speed must at minimum 20km/hour. I don't use a mask because with a mask I can't good breaching.
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post I ride 3 times a week, usually 40 - 60 km each ride on rural roads. I'm in central Isan so there are no hills. I can see that village life continues as normal even during these tough times. Everyone is friendly and still laughing and smiling. Funerals, weddings and the usual village gatherings still seem to be occurring, but less frequently.

Probably coming from an obese couch potato :there is probably no better way to containment than to ride by yourself through the jungle as you automatically practice social distancing, the exercise and the mood elevation (exercise is the best medicine against depression) will boost your immune system. Close the gyms, yoga classes, massage places (traditional and 'Thai style), but it serves no purpose, ultimately counterproductive to ban people from going out for a jog, a walk, a bike ride alone or with family members /roommates. No picnics, sitting around in parks, keep moving on deserted roads, a wide berth around other bikers or joggers, if you encounter any.
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post 14 minutes ago, frequentatore said: What do you mean? He means the roads are too hot for the virus to survive long term. Means spraying the roads with disinfectant is a waste of resources. Save your disinfectant for surfaces indoors and things like doors, door handles and other things that people are likely to touch. How many drop onto the road asphalt to do push-ups and burn their hands.
April 8, 20205 yr I've been continuing to ride up here in Chiang Mai. Mornings would be good but I'm not a morning guy and also the air pollution is at its worst. So I go in the afternoon and wear a mask. FYI: the N95 type mask is tough to breathe through when your really get going. If you leave your mouth wide open, almost like your yawning, you can get a lot more air. Nobody sees how weird you look because you're hidden behind the mask. Even better, I bought one of the rubber/canister masks for working with chemicals from Home Pro. It has two canister filters and might look weird but the air flow is awesome, way better than the N95 type mask. I'm about to go out right now for a ride and you can believe I'll wear the canister type mask! Only cost about 150 baht. Worth it.
