I did book the bus to Phuket once so I assume similar possible for Krabi.  I used one of the shops on Pattaya Klang not too far from the Soi Bukhao entrance.  Can't remember the name.  Do  book the VIP and double triple check you actually get the VIP seat.  The first time I booked I paid for VIP, pointed out the seat on the chart, paid, etc.  I showed up next day, bus driver/mini van arrived and said VIP sold out.  the lady said can re schedule for next day. Now I had checked out of my hotel and was not going to pay a one night versus weekly rate for a hotel.   The lady then offered to give me the price difference but I said no way.  For the overnight long drive I must have the VIP seat.  So I think it was a scam attempt.  I demanded and got my full money back and the lady and the bus guy were not happy.  Well tough.  I changed my plans, stayed in Pats another week and ending up flying

I first came on TVF many years ago to warn of a bus scam on Phangan. I'd bought a VIP bus ticket from a resort on Thong Nai Pan Yai, but when we got to the bus it was a standard seat. I wasn't going all the way back to the beach, so had to suck on it all the way back to Bkk. That was a hard lesson, but I did learn it.

You were fortunate. They always want money up front and usually any refund is unlikely, They seem to think they have a right to their scams.

Yeah I know.  The lady manager knew what she did as she was there the day before when I booked.  There was no intermediate handoff to blame on anybody else.  I actually gave her two hundred baht as I recall for her loss of business on the off chance it was an honest mistake somewhere along the line

That was generous. I once went to get on the bus and found someone else in my seat. they had sold it twice. Bus lady didn't care. Luckily my GF was able to get us on a later bus.

In Pattaya I tried to book a bus in an hotel. wouldn't sell me a ticket for my Thai GF. Only farangs allowed. Ignored me when I asked why.

I have many tales of terrible trips by bus and rail in LOS, but I'd never go by air as the journey was part of the adventure.

Oh absolutely.  I loved the bus from Mo Chit in Bangkok up to Sukhothai.  About 6 1/2 hours total bus time during the day.  Had a decent stop for lunch at one of those big road stop gas stations.  Get to look out the window, see some water buffalo, etc.  That was a very enjoyable quiet peaceful time.   Took the day bus from Pattaya to Khorat or was it Khon Kaen? Darn it was a few years back so my memory is failing.  Then a few days later I took the overnight bus from there to Phuket.  That leg I do not recommend because the trip was a bit rough and would keep getting woken up as the bus driver would slam on the brakes, etc.  Even with the VIP seat for the long ride it was not comfortable.  And the stop at 6 am at some restaurant for some pre arranged breakfast/meal was <deleted> food.

Perhaps they don't like ripping their own off. Quite often tickets bought like that, from these agents, are very much marked up. I always recall what I paid for the ferry to Koh Chang, and what the price at the dock really was!

LOL. I was paying for the tickets, not her.

The meals were always a mystery to me. The only things I ended up eating were the eggs and the rice.

I was always terrified when travelling by myself that they would leave without me while I was eating.

I did use the 3 seats across bus once, but it was no more comfortable than a 4 across VIP. When the cornering is too severe, more likely to fall out of a solo lie flat seat than a 4 across seat.

On my very first bus trip to Phuket I almost got left behind because the ticket staff told me to wait in the wrong area. That was in the original South Bus Station, which was a chaotic mess.

I would check with the Pattaya to Phuket shop on the north end of 3rd Rd. It's about 200 meters from North road. Surly they would know latest information. However Krabi is completely shut down. No boats running. Ao nang might be open to tourists.
