AA, announced that they will begin domestic routes in India, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia on each countries lock down end dates and are selling tickets

 

The Cynic in me says BS airlines have been making it difficult to get refunds for cancelled flights instead issuing credit notes

 

Its impossible for AA to say that these lock downs will really end, plus its Ramadan, Malaysia is already banning bazaars that usually operate and are worried about Eid Mubarak

so the cynic in me is saying AA is just doing a cash collection and exploiting folk 

 

 

I haven't tried as of late, but AA has always been difficult when it came to re-scheduling, refunds, exchanges, etc.  Sometimes I've backed off because taking the loss is worth not having to deal with all their bs.  Much better for mental health to take an "all sales final" approach to their tickets.  And maybe that's part of their business strategy.

"Cash collection" indeed, I agree with the cynicism of the OP.

I agree, lockdowns should have never started, other restrictions used instead. But to think one day a lockdown and curfews and the next allow flights is just daft
