My Thai wife has just told me she has read the news online that the ban will continue and there will not be a 2 day window of opportunity to buy any alcohol ..... I am waiting for someone else to confirm this sad news ????????????????

But alcohol was behind 40% of hospital A&E cases. The ban had reduced this to 15%. This has freed up beds and medical staff for the Coronavirus fight. That's why the ban will continue for a long time.

With the Thai death figures for April 2020 running 3 times the previous year average it doesn't take rocket science to guess where these extra deaths are coming from.

Even if the government tries to sweep it under the rug and fudges the figures the rest of us should be aware that the Alcohol ban and restrictions will be here for the long term. Until the hospitals can cope the ban will remain. It has little or nothing to do with reducing socialisation but that's what the Thai government would have you believe.

Get used to living in an alcohol free Thailand.

What a load of rubbish!

The hospitals here are NOT inundated with Covid-19 cases, in reality they are very quiet, the biggest cause of A&E cases here by far are road accidents, granted some may have been caused by alcohol, biggest contributor to this right now is people are not travelling.

Where on earth are you pulling those death statistics from - unless you can provide a plausible link, then sorry I call your bluff.

A lot of people could stand to go cold turkey for a while and see what happens; an improvement in health I'd think.

Living the 'Dream' ????????????

Only country in the world that bans alcohol and as Richard Barrow reports that this will be confirmed to last until end of May and NO 2 day relaxing of the rule to buy your supplies.

OMG. How will people cope!!!

I normally spend 8 months a year in Thailand and was due to return 2 weeks ago.

I wont be returning.

When the International flights are allowed to return, how many of the expats that think they are still 'living the dream' get on a flight back to where they come from?

Lets face it Thailand is not living the dream. Maybe was 25 years ago.

I have spent many many happy times in Thailand...living in Bkk with my ex a fillipino, visiting beaches and easy to take cheap flights to other Asian countries, enjoying great food, the hustle and bustle of Bkk. I was never interested in going for a happy ending massage, never interested in 'dating' a thai bird...whom would want you to pay her xx,xxx bht a month even when you was not in thailand whilst she 'dated another.

I work 4 months a year at home and now have decided that I will spend my 8 months rest time in a better country (once as flights and borders open up again) with just as nice weather, cheaper to live and where the countries Govt welcomes you with open arms.

Btw i have been a 'member' of this TV forum site for 3 years and love to read and sometimes contribute to conversations. Makes me smile and laugh at times with so many moaning. Dont moan...do something about it. ????????????

I'm pretty sure very few people chose to live in a country where a democratically elected government was overthrown by a military junta which put in place what is effectively a military government with distinctly anti-libertarian and authoritarian tendencies.

It was the lack of such authoritarianism and the general freedoms of daily life that attracted people here, long before the latest group of uniformed gentlemen decided to take control.

Obviously the relevance of this comment is up to interpretation but i have looked at the death rates in Australia from the ccp virus and could not find any figures or any deaths from Australia regards to aborigines ,,now there are many articles to inform you of what could happen to the indigenous communities in Australia which are a few weeks old or so  which threatens many infections deaths etc but hey I think there have been zero aboriginal deaths in Australia fwnich isn’t great ,which to me just not only shows you the resilience of the indigineous people but also shows the benefits of sitting outside in the sun or under a tree and chillin out,,,life should be pretty safe in issan I would think

A very nice gesture, indeed.  ????

So stock up you whiners; spend the money you've recently saved in the bank, and have a good time drinking by yourselves.  ????

I stocked up back in January,  February, March, and April; I could open my own bar / pub with my current inventory of Single Malt Scotch, Rum, and Gin.  ????

Cheers!  ????????????????

Draught beer goes off once when the keg has been started. In Thailand they use bottled beer, which will keep much longer.

I rarely go to pubs in Bangkok, but the ones I go ALL sell draught beer.

What has him being active on the TVF got to do with you?

I used to come on the forum when I was working offshore and I was often away for 6 months at a time.

In case it may have escaped your notice TVF is a public forum and not restricted just to people living in Thailand.
