No shopping malls open in Pattaya, just grocery stores inside.

Other venues?  Barbers, flea markets, and sit down restaurants.  Can live without

Have never experienced a "lockdown" since March 17.  Go out every day, walk, bicycle, etc....

I realize government needs to make serious warnings, do not want numbers rising, and they need tourists to come back ASAP or they may be looking at layoffs

Don't bother with lockdowns if you're not going to test & track. Just open it up and go for herd immunity. You will be forced to do so anyway.

Or cough up the baht and start testing.

Or do nothing and bleat about it on TV.

Social distancing rules will enflame tensions in most places in the world and it's totally unworkable in cities. People have to get to work, no work = no money. I not sure why the BTS/MRT are only 4 carriages when the platforms allow for longer trains.

I wonder if those bts carriages are being fully disinfected each night. The virus wil survive overnight on many of those hard surfaces.

People wear masks b/c of the history of air pollution in thailand so they are willing and familiar with them...people won’t social distance b/c that is who they are not....they don’t connect the dots of cause and effect

just look at their driving behaviors which they refuse to change even with their glaring driving statistics

A traditional and status quo society so the people want and expect things to return to normal ASAP

thais don’t want to change their behavior regardless of good or bad statistics...they are oblivious to western cause effect rationale

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam warned on Tuesday (May 5) that the lockdown would be re-imposed if people continue to ignore the social distancing measure.

Here's an idea, Monday morning around 08:00 go so any BTS station and have a good look..

then come back and talk some sense.

Save us all Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu.  These disobedient children need a good lesson in respect and following orders.  Save us from these Covid-19 spreaders who are all walking killers.  Not properly social distancing.  Bad!!!  Not properly wearing masks.  Bad.  Drinking alcohol!  Buddha save us!  Congregating in temples.  Oh my God.  Singing karaoke and spraying aerosol-death on everyone near them.  Egads! Throw them in jail.
Do these people think this is a holiday or something!!!  Put the restriction back on until next year.  Show these horrible wanton murderers that you mean business!!!

This is the exact reason all business in Thailand except Big C and Makro need to be closed indefinitely.  People going to work on public transportation will cause the death of everyone in Thailand.  Look at all those Covid-19 spreaders.  You can literally see the viruses jumping from one person to the other - then these murderers come home and kill their families.
Close all businesses.  Save Thailand!  Save humanity before it's to late.

Exactly. Mass transit at rush hour is by far the biggest risk. Not how long people stay in malls or people getting their hair done.

And no point in lecturing the public about it. People aren't enduring those sardine like conditions optionally. They are being required to come to work or risk losing income.

Require all companies/businesses to allow employees to work from home where possible and institute flexible work times otherwise.

Then limit the numbers allowed in the BTS/MRT stations - should not be too hard, they have to pass through turnstiles to get in. Buses will be harder but can instruct bus drivers not to stop once buses reach a certain degree of fullness. The staff who collect fares can monitor this. Add on more trains and buses to extent possible.

Between telling companies to allow flex time/telecommuting and making it physically impossible for hordes of people to start and leave work at the exact same time, the situation will at least improve.

Seems like none of the Thai media has asked Wissanu about the rather interesting story about him that was released last week online.

If they didn't ban alcohol for so long this rush to buy alcohol would not have happened.

Can they not see this?

It made some sense over Songkran but every action has a reaction and every 'over action' has an overreaction, in this case crowded wholesale stores is the reaction to cutting off the supply of small traders who sell alcohol for a living.

If they do it again then it will happen again, guaranteed.

You're right. They should not lift the Ban! ????
