Driving back on to Phuket

Featured Replies

Does anyone have fully reliable information on being able to drive on to Phuket (not off)
My house is there for 19 years and i am registered as living there though immigration , also i have my driving licences with me showing my address in Phuket and i am fortunate to also have my Blue car registration book with me in my name showing my address in Phuket . I need to drive back from Chiang Mai but i keep getting conflicting reports that the bridge is still closed for driving on to Phuket . I left Phuket on 25 February and was about to drive back on March 29th when i learnt the Bridge was closing at 6.00 am on Monday 30th March , so i have been staying in a nice hotel now since 30 March but i would like to come home.

I think what you have to take into consideration as well is lockdown procedures or not in each province you are travelling through and what accommodation, if any  will be available on the way.

Safety-wise you are looking at 2 or more stops on the way. If you pushed it, one but you will be in bits. I normally do CM- Chai Nat, Chai Nat to Chumphon, then a less hectic drive to Phuket. I think it works out at around 7, 7 and 5 hours roughly. the last couple of trips I have broken it up a bit more though.

Yes agree , on the way up i stopped 3 times , Chumpon , Prachupap Khiri Khan and lastly Nakon Sawan , been worried as you say if i get stopped driving through different provinces.

I don't really need to get back urgently but been staying in a hotel now for 10 weeks , maybe i should stay on here to June 1st and see what information becomes avalable
