The government said it wanted to help affected people whose applications were rejected earlier to resubmit their case via website www.เราไม่ทิ้งกัน.com ("We do not leave anyone behind").

The ministry officials said that 12.8 million applications had been approved for the Bt5,000 payments, which were expected to be paid within the next week.

“Over 5 million people have already resubmitted their cases,” the officials said.

Why the hell are they making people  line up and fill in bits of paper in crowded conditions..

surely all that is needed is to input Thai ID number and a bank account for the funds to be paid into  via an phone app or online..those from the 20 richest families  wouldn't claim the 5,000 baht per month ?

Thailand the land of excessive bureaucracy. Of course, there will also be the problem of false claims. It does seem nuts during a global pandemic even though there seems to be some effort to limit a possible outbreak.

As of Wednesday (May 7), as many as 13.3 million applicants have been screened for the government’s Bt5,000 assistance scheme, the Fiscal Policy Office’s director-general Lavaron Sangsnit said.

The 13.3 million include 4.4 million applicants who had been approved right from the start, 5.1 million whose applications were pending due to missing information and 3.8 million who were initially rejected but have now been approved.

Of the approved applicants, 11 million will be paid immediately, while the remaining 2.3 million will be paid within a week.

The Finance Ministry said it aims to finish screening up to 99 percent of the applicants by May 17.

Over the past few weeks, the ministry has received complaints about the government website rejecting 1.7 million applications either due to technical problems, registered names not matching or incorrect ID card numbers etc.

The Ministry of Finance is considering what ways to help more in this group.

13,000,000 x 5,000 = 65,000,000,000 THB/month

... where does this money come from ?
If all businesses are shut down and nobody pays taxes right now ... seems like somebody will have

to pay a fortune in the future !

First deflation then inflation then hyperinflation ... doesn't look too good

I understand they give this money... But look at everything got even more expensive... So what actually can do someone with 5k is maybe easier for those outside Bangkok... But in BKK, Pattaya is very hard to live on that budget the Government should reopen all business already.

A certain top family ( who can not be named ) could give the whole population B20,000 a month each for 10 years and it would still be small change to them, their wealth is so vast.

I get your point, but I think your math is way off here.
