  • This is just a childish comment. Maybe you've been damaged somehow by alcohol but please not everyone that drinks alcohol is an alcoholic.

That seems to be part of this government's plan.

  • I feel for the bars and the workers!  But I don't feel for the big alcohol companies - Chang, Leo, Singha.  These companies have such a monopoly that they won't let small businesses make craft be

given that customers who drink alcohol are likely to be lax in observing disease control measures such as social distancing.

It also leads to fornication. It is the devil's work.

I think you need to study up on what defines alcoholism and alcohol dependency. It's not black and white. Knew a brain surgeon who would have one shot of vodka every morning. That was it for the day. Had to have that shot though.

This could have been to reduce the shakes (not to be confused with Parkinson). One shot and the shakes go away. It is not alcohol dependency either. More like medication.

none essential business, alcohol is reason for violence, road deaths, fights, cancer, domestic violence...

but the people in place will listen to their money masters

Watching the news the other day there was a scoot accident that showed 2 dead uncovered bodies with all sorts of different coloured juices leaking out of them, the person in the background... they blurred out the cigarette he was smoking.

Your point is ?

read the post.....you may get some clues

"The alcohol business, made up mainly of beer, spirits and wine"....any others, fit for consumption that is?

Most long term expats know where to drink as I have done, but I miss the social side as you can let the girls yak yak and eat their somtam, while catching up with your mates!!!????????????????

Exactly! And, now that rugby is starting again, in NZ at least, it is so much better to watch in the bar together with all of the regular degenerates that we have come to know and love!

Now, now, put the hand bags down Ladies!

Does the beer have a use bye date? if so I think I'll be staying away from any bars until they have cleared the old stock

As long as the tea drinking General PM and his suckups are in power, Thailand

is just going to have to re invent Restaurant.. Bars etc so with food you can

drink. I guess the very powerful people in Thailand do not have much shares

in the Beer and Alcohol industry. I would think that even they only want to lose

so much money. Good Luck Thailand, I will be going to Vietnam before I come back

to Thailand, and I believe there are many that think the same.

Geezer

So if they open all the bars now and Corona virus starts spreading again it will be nearly 2 weeks before it is recognised and by then the infection numbers will be huge and then the country will be in real deep sh*t.  Thais have already proved they have no intention of any kind of social distancing so therefore they will have a huge problem later. Look at Western Australia if you want to see how keeping the virus at bay is done. Glad I live in Perth. Nothing to worry about here, we still have border lockdown,

Got the moat and drawbridge finished have ya ..lol..

Why did I read this? Now, I'd really like a couple of shots of a nice 18 yr old Single Malt whiskey. ????

????But all my friends drink Hennessy. ????

they should have allowed bars to open when they are allowing restaurants to sell alcohol - discos and nightclubs are by nature completely different and attract big numbers in a confined space making social distancing impossible

Especially the non-enclosed places along the beach and around town, catering to the brave souls prepared to risk a 0.00008% death rate.

And nor will the alcoholics who need their fix.

Not everyone who drinks is an alcoholic, quite the opposite. Please desist with the self-righteous drivel.

I agree 100%, when I am out and about, I love the taste of beer. I will drink 5-6 nights a week and usually pay for it in the morning.....but to say I am an alcoholic is just stupid...just because you enjoy drinking doesnt make you an alcoholic. the last beer i had was February 8, 2020. I miss the friendship that goes with enjoying a beer with friends...but I am not missing beer. It has had no affect on me one way or another...

You're correct, only about 20% have full blown alcoholism with another 20% classified as 'problem drinkers'.

Evidence please.

The best possible pro drinking argument I have ever seen! Drinking and fornication are two of the greatest pleasures known to the human race. (And don't forget Psalm 104:15 And wine that maketh glad the heart of man. Jesus himself enjoyed booze so much he even turned water into wine.)

Yes indeed, but the country WILL recover in a "new normal" way. Forget the Thailand we have known over many years, as I personally believe it will economically flourish with wealthy tourists and, of course, all the massed tour parties from China, Japan and South Korea. The days of foreigners flying in to visit their favorite bar stool, pool table and "bar ladies" are, unfortunately, numbered.

In BKK now, there are bars and restaurants serving alcohol openly, they are packed

Can you mention a few "packed" ones.

I would like to watch some AFL. Is Australian bar soi 11 open? Doubt it.
