I am on a multi-non 0 spouse visa. My last entry was March 16 and my visa runs out today. As I understand it there is an amnesty until July 31, however there are still people posting about getting extensions, so I am confused.

Should I be going to immigration for an extension? I imagine I'm not the first to ask, thanks for any help

You can stay in the country until July 31st without needing to do anything at immigration.

The only people that need to do a extension are those that are already on long stay extensions.

May I ask in this scenario! You are on, like this threadstarter, a Non Immigrant O spouse-VISA.... And of course on this amnesti up to 31st of july.......

Can he go to the immigration after this amnesti, with this expired VISA, and do an extension of that VISA??? I mean it did run out of validity during the amnesti......

A visa cannot be extended.

He could apply for a 60 day extension of his stay to visit his wife.

Thanks as always Joe.  I think the other poster may be referring to a 12 month extension of stay. Would this be possible? Is it possible to change a Non O to a Non B? Provided of course WP and other requirements are met.

It cleary said extend the visa not a permit to stay.

It should be possible if immigration accepts it. It is not clear that immigration will consider the "automatic extension" a extension of your 90 day entry from your non-o visa. You would need 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income.

You can get a work permit and work with a non-o visa or extension of stay based upon marriage. You can also use your income from working to meet the 40k baht income requirement.

You could also apply for a one year extension based upon working of the 90 day entry from the non-o visa.

Thanks Joe. At present I have a WP, but travel for work so have been using multi entry non O. If I was to get a one year extension I would prefer it to be a non B, which I qualify for. Would I need to leave the country to get the non B?

You could also apply end of July at your local IO for a 60-day extension for reason of visiting your wife.  If you put 400K on a personal thai bank-account end of July (or do monthly income-transfers of 40K from that date) you would end of September then have the required financials to apply for the 1-year extension of that Non Imm O marriage Visa at your local IO.

If by then the borders are not open again you could simply do that.  And if the borders are open you could refrain from doing so and then simply exit Thailand to apply for a new 1-year Non Imm O marriage Visa at the thai consulate in Savannakhet or HoChiMin City.

Great thank you Joe, so even though VISA has expired and his VISA is on amnesti, he could apply for an extension based on that particular VISA.

thanks

The problem with an extension based upon working is that if your job ends your extension of stay also ends. You could apply for one with the non-o visa entry you have now if the company you are working for and you can meet the minimum salary requirement.

If you travel a lot, just get a multi-re-entry permit for 3800 Baht, in addition to your 1-year extension.

For a Non-B, or a Non-O (marriage) based on income, your employer will need to provide a pile of supporting paperwork.  But for a Non-O (marriage) based on 400K in the bank seasoned for 2 months, you can avoid a lot of additional paperwork.

This is based on what I expereinced at Chiang Wattana based on work-income this year, but if applying elsewhere, the income requirement documentation for the Non-O might be less troublesome.  It used to be just 2 months of "proof of paying tax" documents plus your work-permit at CW, according to older reports, so might still be like this at other offices.

The labor department gave me no problems at all getting a work-permit with a Non-O marriage-based Visa or extension - only the BOI office has a problem with this.

I'm getting doubts too, both reading the Forum and Reddit.

I have a Single entry NON-IMM "O" visa based on marriage at expiration date imminent, and I can't figure out if I'm actually in the amnesty category until July 31st.

I've lived here for a year and a half, and I've always done this kind of visa.

I you are on the 90 day entry a from non-o visa you are under the amnesty until July 31st and do not need to do anything at immigration. Prior to the 31st you will have to leave the country to get a new visa or you could apply for 60 day extension to visit your wife.

Or are you actually on a one year extension of stay based upon marriage issued by immigration. If you are then you need to apply for your new extension when it is due.

Thanks to all. I am self employed here, have a WP and can meet non B requirements. I'd prefer a non B for several reasons.  Would it be possible to change without leaving?

It is not possible to change non immigrant visa categories without leaving the country.

If you have a non immigrant visa entry it may be possible to apply for an extension of stay based upon working, teaching and etc.
