It sèems like the Australian Government have amended the status of the majority of Australians to "Temporary Detainee". I find it pretty indicative of a Big Brother approach to deny citizens the right to travel to where they want to go and at their risk, if the destination country accepts them. Especially when the returnee would be required to self isolate (and rightly so) on return.

To add, with what, 6 million low income earners receiving government handouts to keep people employed due to Covid-19, can't see anyone going on holidays for a while, besides Thailand has done enough damage to its tourism industry lately by one particular idiot not having a single clue how to keep his mouths shut. Som nam nah "support your own economy first, as the Thai's are doing at the moment." Thai people on a weekend trip brings everything they need with them. They don't spend anything unless they have to and they stay 5-6 persons in the same room. That doesn't help the economy very much.

Popular Post Tropposurfer
Uhhmm? If the Fed govt of Australia says NO international travel, except for specific, highly scrutinised business, and in-flights with student long-stayers then there won't be ANY travel tourism travel period which will all include strict 14 day quarantine. It's hard n harsh but the alternative could well be like the US a perfect example today, which is a complete debacle again before our eyes. If care, and extra care isn't taken then its a reasonable assumption to see hundreds of thousands of Australians dead if they get this wrong. To follow the complete lack of logic and hard science data like the US and Brazil has done won't happen in Oz. I honestly think that we will see the world stay as it is because of the next month of stats that are now, and will come out of places like Sth America, Russia, USA, China, and Europe with the onset of autumn and winter not far away. I don't think Prayut will open the borders again anytime soon as he, like us, can see the numbers as they again climb into the thousands a day infected across huge swathes of the world which traditionally supply tourists to his country. 1

That is correct in a certain class of Thai people, we are a family of 6 but we don't bring all of our stuff, I suppose if your poorer than the middle man, you will bring what you have to, as for 6 in a room, not here, 2 rooms thanks ???? Popular Post Ketyo
The countries that have eradicated it need to take care not to turn into scaredy cats and jump at their own shadow. Three imported cases in NZ and it a national catastrophe for a week. Better to accept a low level of cases. Test track and trace aggressively. Surpress local flare ups. And get on with life. 1

Popular Post rabang
It is very very shocking that a western democracy could ban its citizens from leaving the country. Maybe in the Soviet Union, East Germany or some place like that, but I wouldn't expect it from Australia. I am happy that in my country citizens have a constitutional right to leave and enter at all times. It is only up to the destination country to decide if they let the person enter or not.
