Ideology and politics are becoming far right and far left, no middle ground these days. This forum is no different to comments on UK online papers, the silent majority don't really care. 2020 is shaping up to be a battleground and entrenched positions, old ideas vs new ideas.

We will see in the next round of national elections in Western countries.  So long as their efforts for opposition voter suppression are not successful, IMO left / right political extremists are gradually on the way out, the majority of people are over their divisiveness and negativity.

You are right, the situation is disgraceful, but unrelated to asylum seekers. Your pension is a national disgrace because successive tory and Labour governments have chosen to fleece you dry. You can get rid of every single refugee tomorrow and it will not make a jot of difference to your pension.

I think we saw that in the last UK election. Labour's manifesto was very long winded and very left; their leader was perceived very left; most of his shadow cabinet picks very left.

 

They got a resounding defeat - include loosing many staunch traditional Labour areas / voters. 

 

They've tried to brush it off by pretending it was just about Brexit, but it was far far from that.
