Popular Post remobb
I like cooking occasionally and I thought I want to bake some quiche. So I went to the supermarket and bought the ingredients. Deciding which cheese to use I came across a pack of shredded 3 different cheeses together. Mmm I thought sounds good I'll give it a try. So off home with a smile on my face thinking this is going to be great. Get home and I decided I would give this 3 cheeses a try on cheese on toast. Well what a disappointment, I couldn't taste the cheese at all. Waste of 350baht. How do these companies get away with such c**p? Anyway, I will add some parmesan and buy another cheese, also add bacon and ham (I have made this before and it's yummy) What food do you find tasteless in Thailand? 1
Popular Post userabcd
Is the cheese that American brand which can be found in makro? Probably the package contains mostly mozzarella which is tasteless most of the time.

Popular Post Lacessit
Look for Australian or Kiwi cheeses. We feed our cows real grass. Alternatively, spend some real coin and get yourself tested for coronavirus. 2

Yes that's the one. Seen it often and have been tempted to buy, luckily I have not bought it.
BritManToo
500gm of Mainland Tasty @ 265bht from Makro does the job. (for some reason Makro put a 470gm sticker over the 500gm label)
OneeyedJohn
U can't go wrong with Mainland. I find the fancier or more jazzed up the packaging is , the worse the cheese is. Have also found this is the case with bacon.

BigStar
You get the cheese you pay for. The cheaper cheeses here no matter the brand aren't very good compared to the more expensive from Europe, usually considered overpriced. Now you know. Unless it is real mozzarella from buffalo milk - although with the reputation they ( buffalo ) have here I doubt if you will find it anywhere. Perhaps in an Indian supermarket in Bangkok ? If you can find it you can then make lassi, even bhang lassi if that way inclined.
Pilotman
The cheese you buy in the major supermarkets is, as the OP says, tasteless. I cook a lot with cheese and I only use the Australian and English imported brands, that I can get in the few specialist farang food shops in my local area. Interestingly, it's cheaper to buy than the cardboard cheese you get in Big C and Tesco etc. The only exception seems to be TOPS, which sells good quality cheeses, but that is expensive stuff. tifino
a typical one to avoid... Kraft Slices - long known to not to be actual cheese but if you were really desperate; then melt a little Ghee along with it, to make up for the deficiencies

Parents send me old Dutch Cheese straight from the factory around 5kg. Still expensive but I pay only postage. Lucky me.. havent found better stuff.

It is not a cheese 'at all' try melting it, and the result is as per heating plastics I would venture so far as to suggest that the Chinese copied the Kraft Slices formulation - to make their plastic rice with! twocatsmac
Extra strong mature cheddar style cheese 270 baht a kilo in Udon Thani. All farang meat shops and a couple bar/restaurants sell it, I’d never buy cheese at makro, big c etc, too expensive.

Try Villa Market -Cathedral City mature & extra mature...more than 250gms I think at 250 baht -absolutely superb !
