And Cummings is equally untrustworthy. Well you see this one of the wonderful things about 'self rule' the decision makers were voted in by the UK electorate on their promise to deliver, and consequently they can also be held responsible for failures, and voted out by, the UK electorate, should they fail to deliver. There is now no hiding behind an EU 'government' the UK electorate has little or no control over. Got to be more open accessible routes for control and change with 'self rule' and also without having to garner the approval of other 'group members' who are trying to protect their own interests, implementation can prompt and efficient. 6

We were waiting for the Remainer Parliament to be dumb enough to agree to an election. They took the bait in December and got annihilated at the polls. Since then us Leavers have been tap dancing in the Remainers salty tears. No Deal is music to my ears I only pray that the EU continue with their ridiculous demands so we have no choice but to have a clean break from the corrupt protectionist racket. 9
Popular Post Zillod Posted June 28, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2020 No Deal is the best deal. Australia terms is not about trading with Australia but about expecting the same trade conditions that Australia has. However there is no reason the pre EU trading between UK Australia NZ and Canada couldn't resume. Brexit has become like stepping in a dog turd that you can't shake off your shoe. Enough already just leave! 3 1

Popular Post DefaultName Posted June 28, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2020 Back in 75(?), I voted to join the Common Market, which I still think is a good idea, but the politicians and unelected bureaucrats have, very gradually, turned that into Federal Europe, which is not what we signed up for and is NOT a good idea (for the UK anyway) The EU controlled much of UK life for decades with their rules and regulations - that we mainly adhered to while watching others ignore. They are STILL trying to do that by forcing a deal on us that would force us to give up things like our fishing waters, while also forcing us to sign up to their rules and regulations again. NO. Out is out. IMO. the UK leaving is the start of the break up of the EU - with only France and Germany paying in and all others taking out, it simply isn't sustainable. 6

Does this then mean that the EU negotiators were too demanding when the UK looked for a fair deal, or just not up to the task, or perhaps were dragging out the process in the hope of a U turn which did not appear. Either way if a powerful group such as the EU could not provide a few concessions to pave the way for a satisfactory solution probably not as economically sound as they would like to appear, who is to say they were looking for a fair deal at all, now find they have 'dug in too deep' and cannot be seen to 'weaken' 3

Popular Post Surelynot Posted June 28, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2020 I can't help feeling that, beyond a desire to be independent of the EU, few here have a real understanding of the impact of leaving the EU......I am not claiming that I do. How many people posting here are really au fait with international trade, global politics and complex foreign policy aims? It seems democracy has been corrupted so extensively that three word slogans can sway a whole nation. I for one, whilst not fully understanding the implications of leaving the EU, am very fearful of the consequences. 5 1 1

None of this. EU is a club offering a big market and it works because members agreed to play with same rules. UK still want advantages of this market without constraints of these rules. This could never work. 4 minutes ago, 473geo said: Either way if a powerful group such as the EU could not provide a few concessions to pave the way for a satisfactory solution probably not as economically sound as they would like to appear, // Where did you see that EU didn't provide any concessions? It turned up with a list of demands the EU can never agree to. Therefor we will be leaving with no deal. So when Johnson talked about an oven ready deal during the election campaign he was lying yes? Because you are daydreaming to think that the UK can cherry pick its terms of departure, contrary to its contractual obligations under the 2019 MOU. It is laughable (actually patethic) that 'Great' Britain now needs to adopt the trade deal of one of its former colonies. Reality will hit when UK is forced to join WTO trading rules. Further, assuming you understand Article 50, the UK is now excluded from internal negotiations between the EU and its member states. You are on your own (to paraphrase Merkle). That means any terms you look for need to be approved by 100% of the 20+ EU member countries. Which is why, historically trade deals between the EU and non-EU states take between 4 and 9 years. The Swiss signed their first framework agreement with the EU back in 1972. After entering into 100 bilateral treaties to deal with particular issues and they are still negotiating. The Lords EU Committee said - determining the rights of two million UK nationals living in the EU would be a "complex and daunting" part of exit talks. Lads, ''taking back control'' was a con job by the elite, in order to avoid getting their offshore tax shelters caught by the new EU tax avoidance rules. Oh dear still pilfering the same old tripe. I guess you just can't accept the countless attempts to keep the UK in the EU failed. As this one will to. What is pathetic is people are still using the same line after June 23rd 2016. Joining the EU was a con by the elite and should never have happened. Who would join a club when they allow there food resources to be raped by other countries and instructed to stop farming their own foods. that is the biggest crime. Done to death and boring now. 7
