What are the choices for a person on a non O married once amnesty over

I believe I could do my first ever 60 day extension if wife present on July 31st or any later limit?

Then I could try for a 12 month extension as I have seasoned funds . Should i apply on last day to maximum length ?

I do not wish to buy an  elite visa seeing how such visa holders have been treated.

I read about Education visa, are they issued inside Thailand ?

Other than illegal overstay are ther any other options inside the country without becoming a monk ?

Many threads about this. Good advice listed this current thread.

Clearly the best option for you is to move to annual extension based on marriage.

Ok so what day do I need to apply.

Immigration here require 3 months seasoning .

We should know today that new extension of ministerial notice to September 26th has been approved.

Are you sure they are wanting the 400k baht to be in the bank for 3 months. It has been 2 months since 2008.

Check with your local office about whether they will do a 60 day extension and then the one year extension while on the "automatic extension". If they really want 3 months you could put in the bank now and apply for the 60 day extension to get about another month of stay at the end of the "amnesty".

OP, there are couple of offices that require money in bank for 3 month. The vast majority is 2 months. Strangely the couple that require 3 for bank method require only 2 months for money transfers (income method). Might be more convenient given time constraints.

You should organize that asap.

Elite visa holders are treated very well.  Whether or not you can easily afford it is the only issue.

Never having done an extension based on being married a question on the 'two months'

If the money is deposited in the middle of the month do they start the two months from that date eg 60/61/62 days or from the 1st day of the next month eg money in 20th Aug' and start two month count from 1st Sept'?

Yes you can. My IO want the 400K in the bank for 2 months. Different IO's different rules.

Note: Always take your wife with you. It shows respect When you carry out official business. When you play their game their way people in authority are inclined to be slightly more flexible. I visited the IO alone with quite a few questions a month ago. I was stonewalled, told No & cannot. Ten days later i went back with my wife & asked the same questions to the same people, and they were very helpful. They even told me not to apply for an extension just yet, because of the impending amnesty extension.

Just talking last night with a couple of friends and no-one was 100% sure.

60 days ( in brackets ) as per your post.

The rules state 2 months before the day you apply. Two months from today would be September 22nd.

Sixty days would be September 20th.

Elite Visas is a waste of money, and almost only used by people who doesn't meet the requirements for annual extensions. While in Thailand you have to do exactly the same as people with annual extensions. There are only ~10,300 Elite Visas issued at the moment.

I would guess most Elite Visa buyers are guys under 50 who are not married to a Thai, anybody who is over 50 can easily use an agent for around 15K to get their extension if they don't meet the requirements,in fact I would guess that the last people to buy an Elite Visa would be people who are unable to meet the requirements.

If I was still travelling in & out of Thailand so much (was doing it twice a month) I would get the Elite Visa for Fasttrack immigration alone (as it is I pay 20K for TLM membership which only covers Swampy) and if you travel often enough (at least once every 90 days) you wouldn't have to visit immigration (or an overseas Embassy) once for 20 years... Some would say that alone is worth the admission price.

My hesitation about getting one now is that I've moved here permanently so even when the COVID restrictions are lifted it's unlikely that I will be travelling more than 1-2 times a quarter + I'm not sure if I will still want to be here in 20 years, if I thought I did I would get an Elite Visa instead of my annual extension in September - Maybe I still will...

The idea of the elite visa is a good one, pay upfront and avoid years of grief, having to leave the country, all the paperwork hassles and charges. If only the cost wasn't quite so outrageous, I would have bought one a long time ago.

And it appears the Elite card holders will be allowed in now, well ahead of O, OA, and TR visas.
