Maybe another stupid question, but it has me concerned.

If we put an application in for a spouse migrant visa (AU Immigration) and it is rejected for some reason, do we get the documents back again, or do they keep them?

I would hate to have to prepare it all again, it would take months. :o

I can tell you what happens on success Regie.

You get all your photos, emails and personal types of things back.

They kept everything else from memory, maybe an email to the embassy could clear that up.

Only give them copies. Show the originals to prove that they are true copies. Some Embassies lose stuff.

They do keep documents Doc, maybe for the next stage of processing, PR.

They actually kept my original Birth Certificate (amongst other stuff) and offered to give me a copy if needed.

Ask for a copy of yours and hers then Bronco. The buggers always seem to lose the important stuff. They'll be after Missus Bronco's birth certificate again at PR time.

Do you know if it is possible to get things like birth certificates certified as true copies? I wouldn't like to loose my birth certificate, it took ages to get it in the first place (and cost a heap)

I would like to get all that done in AU before leaving, so I am using this waiting time to get all the paperwork in order, such a lot of work for a simple thing like immigrating. (not to mention the huge costs and loss of time)

Thanks again guys. :o

The Thai Embassy and Thai Consulate's in Australia, and the DFAT offices in all capitals can do it for you. The Australian Embassy is also likely to accept notaries, and J'sP that have seals and a registered number such as Queensland's J'sP Qualified. It might pay to ask the Oz immigration people at the Embassy what they will accept.

I have e-mailed AU Immigration in BKK twice to ask these questions, not so much as got a courtesy reply, never mind about answers. :o
