Rescue staff and volunteers were working hard on Wednesday (August 5) to move residents, especially the elderly, to higher ground from Chiang Rai’s low-lying Mae Suai municipality after it was flooded overnight by a runoff from Wiang Pa Pao district.

Officials have warned that flood waters will flow from Mae Suay to Mae Lao district and then to Chiang Rai’s Muang district before flowing into the Kok River which joins the Mekong River in Chiang Saen district.
