Samui locals clean up after boat accident

Over 100 locals from Koh Samui are cleaning beaches on nearby Koh Taen after they were strewn with garbage from trucks that sank in a boat accident. Three people are still missing after the Racha 4 ferry boat carrying 16 people and three 10-wheeler trucks went down in heavy seas on August 1.

Locals said trash was regularly transported by sea to Koh Taen, especially during the monsoon period.

The accident has sparked fears of damage to the environment and tourism.

Doubt there will be any more damage to tourism other than what the generals have done to it ????

That pile of rubbish seems to be way past the high water mark

High winds in the past week possibly explains.
