Do you mean the 304? I used this route last week, still a few road works but no major stoppages, nice road for the most part now.

It seems decision between two major roads up the plateau.

And I would surely prefer the short route and go up 304 in the west (left).

Route through 348 is to the east (right).

Good to read. About time after so many years.

304 is a better route I think mainly because it has more dual carriageway that 348 which I feel is a more dangerous road and 304 I felt was definitely faster. The last time I was on 304 in March there were numerous widening schemes going on, have they finished or was work halted due to Covid-19.

Technically there is a 3rd route through Kao Yai national park, pre Covid naturally. The only problem being the entrance fee for farangs.

Still some widening but nothing appeared to be halted, going ahead - slowly!

Compared to the dust track this route was ~15 years ago - mega improvement, just stay off the 313, that is an utter nightmare!

Yes you are correct, i would prefer the short route too, but if it was stop -start for road works then i would take the longer *mountain road* 348.  I like to keep rolling not stopping every 10 min. thanks all for your replies it seems there are no major delays on the shorter route by what your all saying.
