The dividends were forthcoming at first then dried up by June. Sunantha claimed that she had contracted Covid-19 and was unable to bring cheap gold into the country

Smuggling ?

Is there a place in the World that sells gold cheaper than market rates ?

Sounds like a Ponzi scheme I bet other victims.

Now she wants to pay it back over 8 years?

I really do not feel sorry much for the "victims" just greedy stupidity.

Not clear from the OP, but it would be interesting to know how much was returned to the 'investors' before the returns dried up. Based on a 40% dividend every 15 days, starting in May and ending in June, they may well have already recovered most, if not all (plus a bit of profit) of their investment.

Ripped off? Maybe not.

Although it says that "expected " returns of 40 % every 15 days and it doesnt state that actually received those returns , it also states that she offered to repay all the money back that they had invested .

They expected dividends of 40% every 15 days after they invested in May.

Then they are very naive.

This is another one of those pyramid scam scheme. That Thai woman should be sent to a Buddhist temple and jail for breaking Buddhist precept i.e. do not cheat.

If you believe in "cheap gold", it would be better if your mommy still managed your finances for you.

Where did these 5 Filipino resort workers get 500K.

Its not like they were highly paid brain surgeons

Maybe unlike Buddhist Thais, these Christians saved their money working at a resort with free food and accommodation. But go ahead and slag of the victims like most of the posters here.

On a positive note, I just invested in a 'lost' container with 12000 Macbook Pro laptops in it, and I'm selling those off at 25,000 each for a quick clearance - it'll give me a quick 10% profit on the deal.

5000 deposit guarantees delivery next month. Any takers?
