On again off again,no real sense. If you want to do good, give another amnesty for at least

6 months to all of us that don't have the virus than want to stay in Thailand and that may get

the virus if we go back to our home countries. What do you have to lose?

What do they have to gain from this? I guess most "stranded tourists" don't stay at hotels but in long term rentals, as there is no end in sight they probably cut expenses to the minimum possible so not much travel, no tours, no use of other tourist services so no real contribution to the Thai economy

i have

a feeling that the virus is losing power, and within 3-4 months it will disapear completly, just

like it was with the SARS...

you might be right - I have seen signs in the data that would suggest that

I live in Phuket and has seen no official announcement on GPS trackers. I think it’s BS because no one will agree to this.

We do have to check in and out of shops and public places, although this is largely ignored now. The idea is if someone develops Covid that we can track where they have been and also who else was there at the same time and might also have been infected.

Sensible no ?

sensible yes if you are tracking everyone not just foreigners

I have explained exactly what this quarantine entails, and it doesn’t sound so bad.

so you are now running things

That is why you know so much

saying something doesn't sound so bad means it is still has a level of "bad"  why on earth would anyone bother

and remember if you test positive at any stage during your not so "bad" vacation - your are screwed

Ivermectin triple therapy, everyone take the drugs as prophylactics.

“Triple therapy specialist Professor Thomas Borody, famous for curing peptic ulcers using a triple antibiotic therapy saving millions of lives, today released the COVID-19 treatment protocol to Australian GPs, who can legally prescribe it to their COVID-19 positive patients. They can also prescribe it as a preventative medication. Borody says this could be the fastest and safest way to end the pandemic in Australia within 6-8 weeks.”

“There is mounting worldwide clinical literature pointing to a 100% cure rate using Ivermectin Triple Therapy,” said Professor Borody.

Ivermectin does not kill viruses.

To repeat, it’s staying in a 5 star beach front hotel, with access to all parts and facilities of the hotel including a section of beach outside.

Sounds terrible, right ?!

at whose expense

What ?

How can you gauge that from what I have said?

I am quoting what has been announced locally.

Once of us  is having a problem with comprehension, and it’s clearly not me.

Must be the "New AbeNormal"?

Using that name for comparison is a poor idea. Do some reserch as to the meaning.

Oh, how terrible! Already know the real meaning of the name and what happened there.

If you have any more problem with that, why don´t you take that up with MeeToo. ????

no and no. try again.

Thailand don't seem to grasp that tourists aren't going to want to wear GPS tracking devices or have to quarantine when coming on holiday plus the economy in other countries is just as bad so many won't be able to afford holidays!

No mention of the insurance has that been taken out of the equation

There are still stringent restrictions in force to be able to obtain a visa/permit to enter Thailand. One of these is the $100,000 insurance requirement. Although insurance per se has not been mentioned, nor is there any mention of the loosening of the rules in place so I would guess that all these hoops will still have to be jumped through.

But it still might appeal to a number of snowbirds. Thailand has many people that spend the whole winter, though those that do it for budgetary reasons will probably be out of the equation due to prohibitive costs.

If the quarantine is the same process as has been already conducted you don't have free use of anything for about 1/2 the time in quarantine. You are stuck in your room until that time and then when you are "released" you can only go to designated areas for limited time periods.  Not sure what you heard locally but that's been the requirements up until now

All quite true, but this scheme is aimed at attracting tourists only so these requirements do not apply.

I wouldn't be too sure about that.

Even returning Thais have to undergo the COVID tests and obtain fit to fly certificates (though not insurance as they're covered by the Goverment). They certainly wouldnt make it easier for foreigners to enter than their own citizens!

They need to distinguish between tourists and long-stayers.  They are two completely different things.  Forget even talking about 'tourism' and 'quarantine' in the same breath.  Never going to fly and stop wasting your time.  Concentrate right now on getting the long-stayers to return--they are the only ones that might be ok with a quarantine as they are here for 3 to 4 months or more.  As a previous poster said, if you agree to quarantine it shouldn't matter what country you are from--allow all the long-stayers in if they agree to quarantine.  For tourism, why not experiment with a few safer countries, use fast testing, and see how it goes.

Yeah well don't expect a rush anytime soon then... Euro tourists can holiday closer and more cheaply and safely at home without GPS monitoring like some criminal at large.

Plus 14 days in quarantine before it starts along with others from god knows where.

Forget it.

Not so sure. Even within the EU borders are closed.

Precisely.

Until the two week qurantine is removed from the equation there is no way I am going back and that's coming from someone who's wife and family are in Thailand.

What sane person books a 2 week vacation in Thailand when they have to stay in a hotel under quarantine.

Why the hell don't these fools get it ?

Personally I don't think they have any intention of relaxing the borders, it's just hyperbole for the masses.

Thai logic not same same you farang logic na ????
