This insane 2 weeks quarantine is now presented for weeks and the bkk puppets still not want to understand that this is interesting nobody. Thai economy will collapse more and more while other countries will welcome tourists, maldives,bali and others

Are you sure about that? A 2 week quarantine period can start any day between Dec/March, they overlap. so there are 120 or so in that time frame

May be 200.000 but not 2.000.000,people don't travel with such rules.

Until March ... that is the biggest indicator yet of no high season.

They can put a layer of sand in the quarantine hotel room, a sun lounger, and paint seaview pictures on the walls.
If they make it so people think they are on holiday then this should work,

First, people need to recover there finances before they can go for a holiday.

People who go on holiday properly do not pay for a 14 days quarantine.

Need to get some of those empty cruise ships to bring them over, cos sure as hell, they aint gonna be flying !

Less than 1% of that total at the absolute best whilst quarantine and restrictions are in place

These people are complete roasters.....

How does that work? Thailand is not even able to fly its own people back from abroad in a timely manner. There are Thais who have been waiting several months for a return flight. The waiting lists in the Thai embassies and consulates are long.

Even if people are willing to fly to Thailand under these restrictive, and sometimes absurd conditions, somehow the people in charge don't get it organized. Produce mountains of paper and endless hurdles again.

The organizational management quality is more than inadequate.
To the detriment of the Thais who live from tourism and the potential tourists themselves.

It’s not rocket science. Those with money (generally) work and are unlikely to take more than 2 weeks off; like me. Those with reduced funds (Backpackers) have more time off to travel Asia but can not afford hotel prices for more than a couple of days, preferring hostels. If countries like Vietnam and Cambodia open up before Thailand, where to you think all these backpackers (university gap years) will go?
This virus is here to stay; it will never go away and vaccines will only reduce the effect but not cure. Ask anyone who has the annual flu vaccine. Croatia relies on tourism for 18% of its GDP. Thailand, 20%. Croatia is pleading with European countries to relax their quarantine procedures so it can keep its head above water. If Thailand does not open up before the end of the first quarter, 2021 it may leave its tourism in tatters, not for the backpackers but the money spenders. Hotels that close down will find it almost impossible to restart as they, in the majority, rely on travel agencies placing their properties in their brochures. Hotels in Turkey who relied on Thomas Cook have gone bust and many have closed down permanently because their hotels were not placed in other brochures.

I would suggest that the death rate due to economic turmoil will far exceed death due to COVID-19

I travel to Thailand every year, January and February. Next year I'll pass. And believe me, I'm a hard-line visitor as my wife's from there.

They are not testing asymptomatic patients and only visitors with symptoms are being tested and kept in qurantine

These ministers keep us entertained daily.

When will they finally understand that their only hope in the current situation are the long time tourists (3 months at least). Only. Nobody else will agree to stay in 14 day quarantine. Why do they learn so slow?

So they calculation is that they have over 300000 ASQ hotel rooms in those area!!!! If 3 month time they want 2 million tourist who are quarantine 14 days and they cant leave right away! Start build hotels  fast coz you have 4 month time!

2 Million Tourists in quarantine on 3 islands? At the moment there are according to the List of Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) Hotels 33 hotels / resorts total 3,485 rooms / villas. And by the way, I did not know there is a Hospital on Phi Phi Island.

Why on earth would anyone pay for a holiday where you are locked in a hotel for 2 weeks?

 

That aside, I see Singapore has reduced their quarantine from 14 days to 7 days for Australians, excepting Victoria. So even Singapore that doesn't need tourism like Thailand does, is easier.

Hope - A feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.

Singapore requires 14 days for all countries except:

- Brunei and NZ - no quarantine

- Australia (excluding Victoria), Macao, Mainland China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Malaysia - 7 days

 

So Singapore consider Australians to be less risk than Thai, but Thai require us to jump through so many hoops.

below is the quote from the OP, stating they have to stay in their hotel for 14 days.

 

"Once at the island of their choice they must stay in their quarantine hotel for 14 days, stay on the island and be subjected to further Covid-19 tests". 

 

Count me out ....I visit Thailand 6 to 8 times a year but only twice do I stay for a maximum of 14 days.
