Please tell me how my friends from Nepal can get back home, who cannot extend their visas and who are either too young or not interested in going through the rigmarole of a retirement visa just for the sake of not becoming illegal aliens.

Thank you. I will forward your kind advice.

Fly to India, then overland it to Nepal

Unfortunately when reading the article, it becomes obvious that the 'unlimited 30 day extensions to stay' are conditional.

Gen Pornchai explained that any tourists unable to return home after Sept 26 due to illness are to apply for an extension to stay by applying at an Immigration office and presenting a medical certificate to prove they are unfit to fly.

However, those who are unable to return home due to lack of flights or other circumstances in their home country must present a letter from their home country’s embassy or consulate in Thailand requesting that the foreign be allowed to continue to temporarily stay in the Kingdom, Gen Pornchai added.

So nothing new, and a misleading header and intro, with the ugly monkey coming out of the sleeve later on in the article.

True, but it does seem (from the statements made in the press conference) that if one can get a letter from their embassy they should get the 30 day extension without any issues, where as before there was some doubt.

I'm not sure about the folks who can't get letters though. ????

Is it the same general that said "All farangs out" just before July 31?

This guy in question won't be able to procure a letter from the German embassy that's for sure. They don't issue letters.

So how does one satisfy the British embassy by telling them I can’t get home?

because I wanna make sure they don’t reject my “can’t get home” plea 555
I’m trying to stay here as long as I can Because I can’t begin to imagine what gods country has turned into whilst I’ve been here in LOS

anybody successfully had a letter from the uk embassy this month? I’d be interested in knowing what you said in the email and what questions they asked if any, or what documents they require.

@Peter Denis....expect to see some "agent-assisted" illness extensions.
