Nexus of foreigners and politicians trying to weaken country: poll

The results of a poll conducted last week found that 82.4 per cent of respondents believe there are foreign stakeholders working with Thai politicians in undermining national security during the current crisis, while 77.1 per cent accused protesters of harassing the people.

 

Asst Prof Noppadon Kannika, the director of Super Poll Research Centre, said the survey on public harassment was carried out from August 20-28 with 5,962 respondents via social media and 1,121 through direct contact.

 

When asked what actions should be considered public harassment, 97.3 per cent of respondents described extreme actions by rioters such as setting people on fire as seen from the Hong Kong riots; 95.6 per cent cited the mob’s obstruction of school activities and forcing students to join the protest; 92.3 per cent mentioned name calling of people having an opposing political viewpoint as “nation haters”; 91.7 per cent spoke of cyber-bullying via social media of people with different political views; 91.4 per cent cited protesters pressuring officials to release lawbreakers; 91.4 per cent cited students who broke school rules while schools were in session; 90.7 per cent mentioned protesters blocking public roads; 90.5 per cent spoke about the cancellation of advertisements to media outlets that have different political views; and 89.8 per cent cited the dismissal of TV hosts with different political views.

 

Noppadon added that the centre had been monitoring the movement of social media users in Thailand during the protest on August 16 and found that 178,034 users in Thailand had taken part in the protest, but when combined with users from overseas the number of participants jumped to 7,928,482 users.

 

“This reveals that the political situation in Thailand could have been more peaceful if there were no interference from overseas, which is planting an illusion of chaos and stirring the emotions of the young generation of Thais,” he said. “I, therefore, would like to urge Thai people to digest news carefully and not fall prey to these agitators who clearly do not want to see Thailand become any stronger.”

Seriously? Where do they get these BS figures from? Most people outside Thailand don't give a rat's toss what happens in Thailand unless of course they are Thai nationals with some reason to stay outside Thailand!

In an independent survey conducted by myself with many Thai acquaintances it was discovered that.

 

1) 100% percent believed the Thai army possessed weapons of war.

 

2) 95%  believed that the army will at some stage use the said weapons on Thai citizens again in the       future if those citizens continue to press for real democracy

 

3)  100 % believed the current government would continue to cling to power for the foreseeable future.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. If true this means Thai people comprised 2.2% of the protesters, with the rest being foreigners.

There's weren't even anywhere near 7.9 mil foreigners living here in pre-covid times.

I would assume they're talking about the Chinese buying everything.

Really accurate counting! Maybe few have vanish? Nice that they tell how they count these numbers and whitch social media place! 178,034 in Thailand! Dont let that "red bull" exsaminer to count your "poll"! What numbers include farangs in here!

Totally loaded - assumes/postulates that 'interference', could easily be assumed as an implied negative. Plus in other words Thai (or anybody) abroad who consider that the situation in Thailand is a dictatorship are troublemakers.

 

And states that the same same folks are 'agitators'.

 

As a professional survey this very seriously breaks all the accepted international protocols of conducting an unbiased survey.

History shows that the modus operandi of reactionary forces in Thailand, when faced with dissent, is first to demonise or otherwise try to discredit the opposition through malicious propaganda.
