In 2019 police officers fatally shot 1,004 people, most of whom were armed or otherwise dangerous. African-Americans were about a quarter of those killed by cops last year (235), a ratio that has remained stable since 2015. That share of black victims is less than what the black crime rate would predict, since police shootings are a function of how often officers encounter armed and violent suspects. In 2018, the latest year for which such data have been published, African-Americans made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S. and commit about 60% of robberies, though they are 13% of the population.

 

The police fatally shot nine unarmed blacks and 19 unarmed whites in 2019, according to a Washington Post database, down from 38 and 32, respectively, in 2015.

It is not disproportionate if you factor in that blacks with 13% of the population comitt 53% of homicides and 60% of robberies. 

 

Why do you persist in making this false BLM argument, yes blacks are 13% of the population but they have more encounters with police, in proportion to their numbers, because they comitt 60% of robberies and 53% of homicides.

Attached are latest FBI statistics by race. I’m not gonna do the analysis for you, so knock yourself out. I will point out that the data shows blacks commit 20% greater number of murders and more robberies than whites (including armed robbery). In many cases blacks commit more than half the number if crimes, yet they don’t nearly represent half the total population. How do you explain that?

Is it, then, ok for the President to comment decidedly on standing legal proceedings, police investigations, pronounce guilt or innocence? And yeah, it might be not-illegal for him to do so, that's not the point. And it may be that many posters, citizens and ordinary folk express views in such manner, fair enough. But is it appropriate and right for the President to engage in such manner, considering the office he holds?
