Isn't incubation period the time from exposure to when symptoms appear?

Other countries test millions yet Thailand test 100’S ..

Seems to be a few Thais returning and test positive on arrival but don't have to test prior to boarding the plane so also possible he caught it on the flight. It seem beyond the pale that they do this as can be seen some people might get through undetected because of this.It only takes one.

And if he did catch it from the plane non-tested Thai occupants, it would not have happened while in Thailand so classified as catching it "overseas".

What about the 3 Thai residents who flew from BKK to Tokyo and tested positive on arrival in Japan?

They all got it on the plane? Lol

But they are being counted as Japanese cases - so Thai stats look good

Tested on arrival?  Not enough time in the air to catch it on the plane and show a response.

You can see from the photo that the soccer player is having a tough time dealing with the infection,I hope he pulls through ok and that he has Covid insurance.

If you read the article you will see that the photo was taken on Apr 23rd so it is unlikely that it is of the footballer, who didn't arrive in Thailand until Aug 13!

Yong Poovorawan, a virology expert from Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn University, said the virus incubation period in the man would have been longer than 14 days and it was unlikely to have been domestically transmitted

Irresponsible and pure speculation to say this! It is just as likely that this young footballer has been out and about Bangkok enjoying himself and has contracted the virus in Thailand.

Yes the doctor is talking complete nonsense. There's no evidence at all that someone can go for 14 days after exposure and not test positive.

Errrr no it's not. Some people never develop symptoms. Incubation period is the time from when you first  were exposed to the virus and when you have a positive virus test. Like anything else natural there will be some sort of bell shaped curve where a few individuals have a longer than normal incubation and some will have a very short incubation. Theories are never, ever proven....they stand only as long as a result comes along which disproves them. The theory that incubation period is 14 days is good only so long as someone finds a patient with a longer incubation period.

I hope your making that statement/question sarcastically. The photo obviously has nothing to do with the report and it's shameful that snoop1130 & the TVF Media team thought to include it.

Yes your right on it.It's also pretty shameful that this Dr Yong says that cases without symptoms are very rare and less than 1% of cases. He must think that because he's a doctor everyone will believe him.I'm surprised no reporter didn't pull him up on that statement and say that he's full of it.Appalling reporting which no doubt many will take on face value. It's a fine example of what's wrong with this whole pandemic.

It is already known that many infected people -- especially younger ones -- are asymptomatic. And that until/unless symptomatic cases start to appear at hospitals, their numbers are pretty small.

It would seem that Thailand's premier virologist disagrees that many cases are asymptomatic stating that they are rare and less than 1% of cases! Is he wrong?
